I've just finished the book and will read it again, because I think it has a high literary value. Not many people can write like Harper Lee whose incisiveness and wit shine through in the pages. This book needs to be read slowly, carefully and seriously, when one's mind is quiet, to fully grasp its intellectual depth and essence. Many people will boast that they have read a certain book when actually they have merely browsed through it.Alas, the pace of modern life is such that nowadays we tend to do things more quickly, and thus more perfunctorily.Besides, there are more exciting things to occupy young people than reading literary classics. We ingest more, but digest less nowadays. The internet has unleased a deluge of knowledge and information(or misinformation),producing more and more knowledgeable but superficial Jacks-of-all-trades,and less and less true experts in any particular field.Packaging ourselves have become more important than substance. What we need is to prioritise and simplify,in order to really excel in any field that we have chosen in life.
"Transcend the vicissitudes of life,by realising the Unborn in each and everyone of us."

hey the movie was interesting. i liked some parts but some of it was kinda stupid. they put work into it and so give them credit for it. give them a chance no matter how stupidly poor the movie is, you wouldnt like it if your work got shot down. grr oh well you people have your own thoughts, personally the world should die and whom ever deserves to live should. thats another idea for my movie

The film SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS reminded of THAM, though just a pretender sequel, not a classic.

Dill also appears in HUSH, HUSH SWEET CHARLOTTE... another episode of children frightened / teasing a 'mis-understood' neighbor. This time the character played by 'Dill' enters the house and shares space with Charlotte (played by Bette Davis).

Wow, hard to believe these comments from people who obviously did not live in the segregated South in the 1940s. Does it pull its punch, by letting the heroic lawyer lose his case? No, not really, that was typical of the tragedy of the South in those times.
I also think it is one of the most realistic films in depicting childhood in the South in that era.
