Jeff Scott Soto was probably best known for his time with Yngwie J. Malmsteen but he has done many many many projects. Mike M. was the lead singer for Steelheart which had the hit I'll never let you go(angel eyes) in the early 90s. I suggest downloading or getting your hands on the second and third Steelheart cd. That is if you like the 80's. The movie does rock though I think they could have been a little more realistic and shown more but then it would have ended up a porn show because a lot of the 80's was sex..... drugs and Rock N' Roll

Yeah they couldn't be too realistic in the film with the Sex because it would have ended up like a porno. But the Orgy they had in the film was pretty hot! They should have shown a bit more though. I dont think Mark Wahlberg is extremely sexy although he does have his charms! Timothy Olyphant is way sexier with the long hair and 80's clothing! I love that long coat he wears with the sleeves that wrap round his thimb. It drives me Crazy! Rockstar is a classic set in a real Rock n Roll Genre-which is the best kind! It's especially appealing to me because i love 80's Rock music and this film captures the Sex and drug fuelled lifestyle! IN SIMPLE TERMS, IT ROCKS!

i play in a couple of bands and in one of them we do "we all die young". i really enjoyed the movie, and being a musician for 10 years, i saw plenty of things that wouldn't have really happened. good movie, though.

Yeah ok we all know this film is not entirely reality based although some rock band in the 80's did recruit a die hard fan as their singer (I cannot remember which band!) But it didnt work out. By the way if anybody knows the name of the band i'd really like to know. it's racking my pretty little head! Anyhow, what i'm tryin to say is this film captures what every Rock fan dreams of: Becoming the lead singer of their favourite band, i think thats why so many people love this film!

Yep just remembered Ripper Owens replaced Rob Halford in the Band Judas Priest in 1996. Owens worked in an office too! This movie must be loosely based on him.

I was wondering if anyone knew the song at the end of the movie when Chris leaves Steel Dragon and starts his new band.... the song he sings after he cuts his hair... its kind of a slower song... he plays it in Seattle when he goes back to find Emily, at the very end. If you know what its called or if its on the soundtrack can you email me at sjb8302@msn.com ?! thanks :o)

sb, the name of the song is Colorful. It was done by the Verve Pipe

...Also, I wanted to say that I liked the fact that they used REAL musicians in the band Steel Dragon. I hate seeing movies where they pretend (badly) to be playing. And they couldn't have gotten better than Zakk Wylde (Ozzy), Jeff Pillson (Dokken), and Jason Bonham (Bonham and the son of John Bonham (Led Zeppelin)) to portray an '80s heavy band. The casting crew on this movie really used their heads.

the song in the middle " and the days go by " is by the talking heads, the song at the end is called colourful by verve pipe. anybody else noticed izz's transformation from ozzy osbourne to kurt cobain at the end.

I love this movie! I bought the soundtrack yesterday and love it. I can't believe that some of these songs didn't make radio play. Or did I miss it? I've watched the movie over and over and love it!

I love this movie!!!!! Can anyone tell me the name of the Steel Dragon song that Izzy starts "rapping" on...awesome song, even though they only play about a minute of it! It's in the scene where the band is back in the studio to record an album and Izzy comes in with a bunch of songs he'd written and an idea for an album cover he drew himself that Kirk Cuddy finds amusing. The lyrics are:
"I've got a burning way down deep in my soul I'm on a roll, I'm on fire"
I don't remember the rest but I'f anyone know please let me know!!

as far as i can remember, i think the song which Izzy raps to is wasted generation or it could be Blood pollution??? sorry that didn't really answer your question did it?

ok too smart - like rockstar great film , i am old enough to have seen and sampled the life style portrayed in the film so can associate with it 100%, the real killer is the grunge bit at the end which kills off almost over night this genre of music (I like grunge and current nu - metal too ) . This film is about the transition of music and peoplel - moving on, i'm a d.j. so know all about that.
