Darcy is the hottest man alive. I wish he was in more movies. Colin Firth is the best actor ever and portrays Darcy in the perfect manner. i recommend this movie to everyone.

Darcy is a minger in the BBC version, not half so stunning as i had imagined reading the book.

>>By Phil   (Monday, 20 Jan 2003 16:28)

Is the movie the same as the book for those of your that have read/seen both? Thanks.

>>By John   (Tuesday, 4 Feb 2003 07:03)

Which movie is better?

>>By John again   (Tuesday, 4 Feb 2003 07:04)

mr. darcy!!!!!

>>By darzi   (Friday, 28 Feb 2003 18:40)

Ummm. . .this IS a fictional book you are talking about. It is physically impossible for a character from a book to impregnate you. Orgasm does not have an "i" in it. I would suggest most of you find a guy that actually exists.

NOTE: EliZabeth. In the book, it is with a Z, not an S. If you lust after the characters, it's one thing, but learn to spell!

(Back to the original post's author:)

Finally, that movie sucked.

Austen's best novel, and the BBC adaptation was fab, and so like how i imagined in the book. My tapes nearly worn out. and mr. darcy...

I love pride and prejudice, though haven't watched the movie but i'm sure given on all the remarks above the movie was great as well.Colin firth was definitely the right choice to play Mr.Darcy, though on second thought (which entered my mind while watching kate n leopold...) Hugh jackman as mr. dacy wouldn't be too bad. I think pride & prejudice is the best romantic novel ever written and hardly wait for the exam to be over to indulge myself with it again..

I love Jane Austen and anything that is done about her books, exspecially the movies. I love the newest movie of P&P that was filmed in Utah. Its called Pride and Prejudice a latter-day comedy and is starring a great new actor named Orlando Seale. I'm sorry but Colin Firth may be good looking for an older man but Orlando beats him out for best looking Darcy.

If you havn't heard of it you should check out the website at www.PridePrejudice.com. Its a really cute film.

Morning Wood...good to know there are intelligent people on this discussion board. For all of you who came on here to talk about the "hotness" of the actors/actresses, please get a life. The movie did follow the main ideas of the novel, though the actual dialogue of it was not readily used. I suggest you read the novel before you see the movie(s)...

As you can see by my nickname, I am also in love with the character, Mr Darcy. You can't really blame the girls for orgasming over him, really, can you. It's that white shirt, and the sideburns, the wet hair, he is splendid, I dare say. This movie, (I've also read the book) is my favourite, and it changed my life in a way. I was severely depressed when I found it, and it altered, and still does, alter my mood, completely. I could be understudy for any of the characters, I know it so well. My friends think I'm a freak, but who cares.
Bye now....

Kiera Knightley will be portraying Elizabeth Bennet in the new version of Pride & Prejudice being released in 2005 and I have a feeling she won't do nearly as good a job as Jennifer Ehle. Matthew MacFayden will be playing Mr. Darcy.

I liked the book and my favorite version of it on film was the BBC's mini-series in 1995. Though whenever I start to watch it, I have to finish it, even though it is around 5 hours long (I have it on DVD).

Jennifer Ehle was so perfect for the part she played....(Lizzy is a fantastic character - I wish I could be more like her) That is also my favourite version. Perfect in every way and every character portrayed superbly. I've watched it countless times, and I will never tire of it.
I just checked out your profile, jacquestrap, and you're quite unique for a young person in your tastes!!! I'm impressed!! It's great to see.

Colin Firth (or I'd rather call him "Mr. Darcy") draws my attention completely in this fabulous film.

The power of his eyes features a Mr. Darcy, who has cool appearance and hot heart. Whenever I review this film, some scences always touched my heart greatly-For example, Mr. Darcy looked at Lizzy from some distance; at that time, his eyes sparkle with delight, doubt, thought and fervor.

Pride and Prejudice is my favorite of all the Jane Austen novels. It is more complex than her earlier novels and less mean spirited than her later novels. I think the trouble with the movie (as with all movies made from novels) is that the movie is only an interpretation of the book. Thus, all movie versions will be different. Having said that, I just love Colin Firth and will watch him in anything!!!

>>By analyst1   (Monday, 6 Sep 2004 17:21)

i adore the book!!! it's one of my favourites ever!
about the movies-well, i haven't watched the version with Colin Firth, but i bet it's a really great one! that actor is perfect for Darcy! i imagined him just like colin while i was reading.
i've watched the new ecranisation though, the comedy, and, it's not a good one as a movie, but the guy that plays Darcy- Orlando Seale is just...woah! amazing! amazing!!! really, never seen such a man!:)))))

>>By Eli_Molko   (Wednesday, 17 Nov 2004 19:02)

I'm not sure who I pictured as Darcy, but seeing as I saw the mini-series before I read the book, perhaps him also. Darcy in my mind is just so charming(har har) and a great man, a great character, it's hard to solidify his personage to one image.

>>By jacquestrap   (Friday, 19 Nov 2004 04:39)

yeah, and also, he has to have this cold type of beauty, if you know what i mean:)))) that makes him look a little arrogant and very aristocratic.

>>By Eli_Molko   (Friday, 19 Nov 2004 17:21)

"Mr. Darcy" is the idealistic character of "Mr Right" for women. Thanks to Jane Austin, who did not paint him too graphically so I can image him the way I like. "Mr. Darcy" is the cross-culture/generation figure. I believe every woman is in love with him! I got to know him 30 years ago when I read Pride and Prejudice the first time in Chinese translation. I didn't know any English then. I did know however, that Darcy is the MAN! I fell in love with him ever since. I prefer him than any other men I know. Although Colin Firth has taken Darcy to the next level beyond Jane Austin(he is devastingly romantic,) I do see Darcy somehow differently. I prefer David Rintoul's Darcy. Check out the 1980's TV version of P&P.
