Lord Of The Rings 1: Fellowship Of The Ring
Forum
after reading all of the comments on this discussion page, i can't help but posting. i rarely have anything to say on these sites, but here goes... if people don't like the movies (or haven't read the books, or call themselves the "biggest fan"; or just like the movies because of a "hot character") - they have a right to thier own opinions. you, who ever you people are that are bent on responding to those comments, are wasting your time. there are few responses that i've seen to those people (like that of the Smeagol explanation) that haven't been trite or self-centered. please, if you don't agree with what someone says, just ignore them. what do you care? you like the movies, you have the collection, good for you. talk about the good things that you like, or give critique in a well-mannered way, and perhaps a true discussion will form and the people who have silly things to say will not post anymore. i would feel more welcome in a discussion room where there is genuine discussion going on.

An additional information from the message I posted above, I am hoping for The Hobbit to be filmed. When The Return of the King came out, I nearly cried cuz I know that this is the last part of the movie I really waited for years. But know it ended. Can't help it. If only there is the fifth, sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth, tenth, and so on.... part of The Lord of the Rings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A pity that Tolkien already died. Otherwise he would have been able to write more books that could have been filmed. The bastard.

I am not sure about whether they will film the "Hobbit". It covers the tales for grandchildes of Tolkien you know. Altough the book is writen after trilogy, it may be risky to film it after the serie. But, guess they may..in the search of profit. However, since it got a mood different than the LOTR it will not fullfil the expectations of the fans in my opinion.

The photography is wonderful. My son was bewitched by the scenery. It was pure escapism at its best, something we all need , in light of the trashy reality programmes that blaze on our screens. (yes I turn them off.)

All 3 movies have gone far beyond my expectations of how good they'd be. I own the first two and went in december to see the return of the king, it's better than the first two. I've read all the books and I just think that they turned out to be really great movies, Peter Jackson did a wonderful job and he deserves his awards.

ok...read the very first comment and would like to correct "annoyed"....or whoever it was... people do know that everybody die... we would all be dead already if we didn't know that... the reason why gandalf "the white haired dude" didn't die was the book.....bet you haven't read it....well it has been my most favourite book since i was seven so i'm really quite sad about the movie....it ruins people's fancies about the characters... i feel sorry for all who first saw the film and then read the books....a brilliant man tokien was...

LOTR rocks i dont know what your talking about. its an epic adventure with hot guys in it. so if you dont like it, tough. i mean you didn't have to watch it...

i can't believe some of the comments in here! LOTR is the best! The only complaint i would understand would be a little long/confusing at times. But predictable? i think not. peter jackson is a true artist.
>>By The Secret Amulet (Friday, 21 May 2004 00:03)
definetly not predictable... he is an artist

LOTR..is and great tale on how good wins over evil! it is very exsiting and has what a movie should have, romance, action, etc. my fav carrecter would have to be elrod and pergrin took/ merdoc brandybok, sam, and gladriel! although gladriel/kate blanchett did not have muck parts nor some of the others she did very well.

lotr is a great series but only 1 thing wrong wth it - the length, alright great films but if u try to watch tehm all in 1 day gl to u u will need it
>>By master_of_all (Friday, 17 Sep 2004 15:50)
I think that meter jackson would have been crucified if he shortened the movies. All of the fans in the world(including me) Would have murdered Peter jackson for ruining this great peice of literature. Whenever i watch the movies i wish they were longer so master_of_all that is only your opinion. I however know many people who agree with me.
please understand I hold you in the highest respect

The length? have you read the books? He did exceedingly well to get it to around 10 hours, personally I would have liked more of the book in there, but its just not reasonable. Also, there have been comments of how predictable it is, I mean, of course its predictable, it was based on a book written years ago! Isn't that kind of like going into a movie about say, Ceasar and saying 'i knew brutas was gonna stab him in the back, soo predictable'?

Also, I just read the comments about making the hobbit as a movie. I heard they are actually trying to get the rights, but its gonna be difficult bcoz its already been made (did anyone see that? it was a cartoon one, quite, uhh, interesting :D). Does anyone know any details on that?
>>By Alleria (Monday, 1 Nov 2004 06:38)
Yeah right theres not going to be a Hobbit movie. Dont get me wrong i love LOTR more than any person on the earth but theres no way in hell theres going to be a hobbit movie. its just some stupid ass rumor some one made up to piss me off!!
>>By filthy666 (Thursday, 18 Nov 2004 04:19)
yes indeed, bcoz as the rest of us here in flork should have known, all revolves around 'filthy666'....riiiight. Do you have any reasononing? or simply an overblown statement and/or ego with nothing to support it?
>>By WildGirl (Thursday, 25 Nov 2004 05:21)
well Wildgirl in some ways fifthy666 could be right, like i love lotr , and have read all books including silmarrillion which i may say rules, the hobbit and unfinished tales which also rules but the way pj is waiting so long to make the movie kinda makes you think. like he cant make the movie without ian holms who played bilbo for the people that dont know and if he waits to long ian will be either to old or even worst. Like the ring kept him young until he gave it to frodo in the fellowship and so if he doesnt look the same as he did in the fellowship or even younger it aint going to work. ok make up may help a bit but the man is getting older everyday and pj wants to wait 5 years to make it cause he wants to make king kong first which actually may ruin him if it isnt any good , althought he has andy sherkis to do the voice of kong which could be good.....

I watched it twice, the second time in one long marathon dvd session just as i had read the book in 1976 in one long marathon session. It came as a surprise to learn that J.R.Tolkein conceived many of the ideas up our neck of the woods in Lancashire. Leafy green DownhamVillage and over the brow of the hill Mordor or rather the smoke stacked, air choked Industrial Weaving and Metal Foundry Towns of Burnley Nelson and Colne.or as it was then.We were the Orks! I did enjoy the Movie and thought the spfx.amazing. but a third viewing? someday a few years hence. it will i am sure become a Christmas TV Kiddies Treat for quite a while yet, Anyone game for a good belly laugh should see the short webspoof download:- www.lotr-the truestorey it's a treat even for devotees.
