A Beautiful Mind

Why did the filmmakers leave the comment from the trailier [better than a beautiful mind is a beautiful heart] out of the Nobel prize speech?

I thought the movie was awesome. I started out watching it for simply a class project, but in turn I ended up loving it!!

>>By acoke   (Monday, 21 Apr 2003 18:02)

It's a good movie. Eventhough some people say it's not as good as the LOTR or FOTR movie, but the movie itself is definitely great.

Superb movie, with a great Twist, what more do you want?

At first I was only watching the movie because there was nothing better to do, then it truly captivated me! I loved the scene where he was outside with he girl looking at the constellations! That melted my heart! I hated his wife though, I thought she could've been more understanding! When the part about the shock therapy came up, I cried sooooo much! The fact that all of that was true hurt my heart! No one should have to go through that! I remember screaming at the screen to his wife......."You Bitch! Get him outta there, and if you ever put him back in there I will KILL you!" lol! I loved the movie so much, but I will never watch it again because it deeply disturbed me, I couldn't sleep for several nights. :'(

The analogy of the certainty that you love someone to the certainty that the universe is infinite - you just know (or something like that) was a great line.

It's good (realistic) at the end to see that his paranoid delusions did not go away because mental diseases are not something that can be shaken away so easily.

>>By Sexibeast   (Saturday, 22 Nov 2003 12:30)

great movie but i wished it dealt more with his mathematical work.

>>By rut   (Wednesday, 28 Jan 2004 16:37)

there's so much context to the math --especially the game theory stuff-- that it would be difficult to translate to the screen. i gave them kudos for showing the defense department relationship to the math.

Seeing the turmoil of a genius, hindered by his brain - a brain which had got him so far in life, was inspirational. My mathematics professor hated it, he said it detracted too much from the actual mathematical technicalities of Nash's work. I then asked him "Isn't it rewarding to know where work comes from and how it came about?" He replied with "maths is for studying and solving, not exploring and contemplating". I disagreed, but I didnt say.

My enthusiasm for mathematics shot right up after having watched it. It really is a great film though, it takes us through the struggle of one individual and how his pain affected others. It should make us think twice before deeming mathematics to be emotionless and inhumane. Themes such as the nature of a beautiful mind, and the irony of a problem-solver being unable to fix the befuddling situation of his own dilemma; offer comfort and reassurance when we analyse our own obstacles in life which disgruntle and unsettle us.

>>By Dash   (Wednesday, 28 Jul 2004 11:01)

wasnt worth the time to watch

>>By MetalBladeRecords   (Tuesday, 22 Feb 2005 16:34)

i think we all understand the mathematical genius that this man is. the movie, i believe was to portray more of the mental disease that he has and the accomplishments that were achieved with his ailment. until one knows someone with schizophrenia you can apprecite this movie more. it amazed me at the accomplishments that this man achieved. his wife is also to applaud for for staying and supporting him through all of this. excellent movie....and i can't believe that he didn't win an award for this one. don't get me going on hollywood...now thats another story...

>>By ~*carol*sue*~   (Monday, 2 May 2005 06:30)

not that i dont think that the acting was not good or anything....it had to be to freak me out like that....

>>By ~*carol*sue*~   (Monday, 2 May 2005 06:30)

"another words i hated it." What? Do you mean "in other words"?

If you think this movie was too intelligent movie for you, you might want to just stick to shoddy teen movies.

MetalBladeRecords, you again. You might want to watch a film before you ignorantly insult it.
