Just watched this and thought over-all not bad, just a pity that no-one even tried to speak with any sort of German accent, to have a story based in Germany & hear Californian & Cocknet accents in abundance just spoilt it for me. Obviously the story had to be spoken in English to accomodate a world wide release but you would think the director would have asked the cast to make a little effort. When you watch older war movies at least the actors tried to make it realistic. Maybe Tom Cruise is just to big a star to be upset ?.

Didn't really care for it much. I agree that there should have been a little bit of an effort made to affect the accents, it seemed just a little divorced from the story to have Tom Cruise in his naitive *american* accent. I think the film had loads of potential, but there was just something missing - it seemed as if it was all too easy to do, which I'm quite sure it wasn't. There wasn't really much secrecy going on - didn't really draw me into the film at all. Downfall.. now there's a good film...

first off, they wouldn't be talking in english anyway, it would be german.!!!! :)

so, to make the film more realistic, they could have used german language and added german subtitles, but the mass public wouldn't have liked that. so, it's a no win situation. i think that the actors using their 'normal' accents worked quite well. better than half the cast sounding stupid with dodgy, half assed german accents!!!! :)
