I really liked titanic i thought it was a great version of real life tragedy.
but i think what needs to be remembered is that it was a tragedy.
I wonder why we celebrate tragedy and mis fortune entirely too much.
as i read some of the comments made in this discussion i find it disgiusting and appaling that we feel this way about humanity. I think
titanic raises questions about ourselves.

the movie is thrilling and sad at times and it just goes to show how selfish people can be even if they are probebly going to die. But the movie was good although the ending was stupi and i dont understand why jack had to die.

you've got to be kidding me this is a horrible film. The fact anyone cares about the Titanic is amazing in its self

>>By Billy Pilgrim   (Thursday, 8 Jul 2004 07:33)

A great movie...one of my favourites!

>>By Jane   (Saturday, 17 Jul 2004 06:31)

I liked the way the difference in class was shown at the end. As in, it wasn't a matter of saving "women and children" first, but rich people first and poor people later. I would have preferred if that was elaborated on more often throughout the film rather than glum hints at it. I didn't think too much of the love story. Mainly since it gave the wrong message about the film - it made it too soppy. You could easily have made Titanic an action film, with rival gangsters or something on the ship duking it out; or even a type of thriller involving clandestines or robbers sneaking out of England with a load of stolen ... gold... or whatever. The film elected to follow a couple as its main story, and well, it would have done well to encompass other themes more comprehensively. Leonardo DiCaprio as a leading man would have put many people off. Yeah, i agree with you who say he is overrated.

As a film, Titanic was attempted to be made into some type of "epic", when it centred around too fictional a story. Undoubtedly there were thousands of different stories amongst the passengers, but the music, acting, directing mainly aimed to awe an audience rather than deliver a more meaningful message, i thought.

Why in the hell did that old woman throw that amazingly important necklass over the boat at the end though?? What an ass!

But anyway, I thought it did well enough, winning 11 Oscars and all...

>>By mathu   (Thursday, 26 Aug 2004 23:22)

I think the movie was well directed, it had its corny moments (I'm the king of the world!) but the work that it took to make the cinematography as great as it was as well as the whole structure of how the ship was gonna look was really amazing.
That's James Cameron for ya.
But it sux today and for yrs. to come...

>>By harpoon_sha   (Friday, 3 Sep 2004 19:50)

Yeah why did she throw that necklace in the water? i would have sold it if it was me and lived happy ever after even if i was old and wrinkly. hee hee.

>>By becks   (Wednesday, 8 Sep 2004 02:27)

i think the movie is brilliant-it's one of my favourite movies ever!!!
very very powerful!

>>By Eli_Molko   (Thursday, 9 Sep 2004 15:08)

The necklace was the only thing that kept a memory of Jack, Roze doesn't see in the necklace money, she sees in that a memory of Titanic, of what she's been through.
So by throwing the necklace to the sea she's like continuing with her life.

>>By Lincoln   (Thursday, 9 Sep 2004 18:16)

im wif u lincoln it was part of her life but she wanted 2 move on so she got rid of it.
