The Red Violin

This is the best movie in the world in my eyes! I'm loving the whole thing with the tarot cards, and how the predictions were true, just in a more indirect way. Definitly a masterpiece!

Well, I'm not sure it's the best movie in the world, but there are certainly some reasons to like and dislike this film. This film is the type of movie that has several sub stories vehicled around... You guessed it, The red violin. It's a movie about how the violin affects the lives it touches throughout the centurys. The smaller stories then culminate as part of the larger story. It's one of those "the sum of it's parts is greater than the whole" sort of thing.... makes it very artsie. All this makes the story somewhat slow going, especially since tragedy seems to abound, but It picks up as the Samuel Jackson character is introduced. The Twist, or twists at the end make it worth seeing, although, I wouldn't say it's a must see.

I enjoyed it, but find it even more enjoyable talking about it after the fact.

Seen it, but wasn't particularly struck.

Hi, I saw this movie, and thought it was great. I liked the Tarot card reading, and how it wasn't really the life of the woman that the cards predicted, but the life of the violin, which leads to the (SPOILER) blood paint used on the violin. Foreshadowing of a sort I guess.
