it would tell you everything about the names and such. Hmm ecsept i dont understand why he would yell out moonchild if he was giving her his mothers name...was his mothers name moonchild?

i love all the neverending story movies but the first is by far the best! There aren't that many good movies like that around! Atreaju(might not be spelled correct) is my favorite character and i've always thought that it was cool that he was a buffalo hunter and was chosen despite his age! I just overall love the movies!

ok people, it's Falcore, and he's not a flying dog or a flying dragon, he's a luck dragon, and the horses name is Artax, and the warriors name is Atreyu, i read it on the back of the movie. and also, bastian doesn't yell moonchild out the window, the empress was a moonchild, thats not her name, and one more thing, why do you people keep asking the same questions that have been answered already?

I don't know how late this reply will be, but here goes...
It seems most of you people who posted haven't even SEEN the movie.. If you did, you'd know most of the names you asked about, and even if you didn't it isn't hard to find a script online that tells you the exact spelling, THANKYOU to all those who did actually know, and help the others...
And as for those who called Falcor a dog. and Gmork a Dragon.. Seriously, Are you Dislexic?

the movie was realeased in west germany in april, 1984. it was released in the u.s. july 1984
the correct spelling is "Falkor"
the rock people are called "rock biters"
the boy's name is Bastian
i usually dont bash people for what they write, but DAMN, borris tortears, David Bowie was NOT in this movie. you're thinking of "Labyrinth" released in 1986

This is of course the moment i stop to wonder .. why didnt any of you read the book ?? you do of course know that the films are more or less based on a book dont you ?? it is by far one of the most awesome books imaginable, being a hidden introduction to some modern philosophical thoughts, which is reused im films such as the matrix. the films do hardly do the book any justice, and after reading the book i know 90% of you would agree with me. of course, i can see that most of you are too frustrated over the fact that you find nude pictures of the princess, or which films the actors otherwise starred in. i can certainly see why these questions are important.
but wtf. im just an old man, bitching at the world, that no longer cares for books. so go to the arcade further down the street, there they have things that make beep beep sounds.

Someone asked who played Bastian, it was Jonathan Brandis. Sadly, he committed suicide, he died November 12th 2003 at age 27, he hung himself :( He was such a great actor! :'( It's really sad.
The Neverending Story 2 is such a great movie :) I loved that movie when I was a kid :) And I remember watching it as a little girl in Germany, and also later after I moved to America :)

oh and LoStCoRz here is a passage taken difrectly from the book about the childlike empresses name...."Bastian knew that he had never in all his life seen anything so beautiful as this face. And in that same moment he knew her name: Moon Child. Yes, beyond a doubt, that was her name." found at the end of chapter 10...
and i completely agree with Disone on the fact that books are so much better.. seriously, everyone who loves this movie really needs to read the book.

Ok I realize this is a way out dated topic but after reading I have to say my part or I’m going to explode. Ok first of all there are posts that are correct, incorrect by a small measure and way way off course. To anyone who thinks Falkor (that is the correct spelling just so I don’t get any remarks) is a dog I don’t understand that sorry. He is in fact as a past poster stated a luck dragon; he even says that in the movie. For the misunderstanding of Atreyu’s (spelled correctly) horse name it is in fact Artax. To the people who said Morla you are right. To whom ever asked about Barret Oliver I don’t know what happened to him but the person who replied was wrong about him hanging himself. Jonathan Brandis indeed sadly commit suicide but he however was in the Second movie Never Ending Story II not the First one. The confusion over Bastian name it is indeed Bastian not Sabastian but I can understand that mistake. The statues Atreyu has to pass through are the Oracles. Gmork is indeed the name of the evil wolf like creature that is helping the nothing. Last but not least Moon Child is in fact the name called out to the Childlike Empress by Bastian to save Fantastica. Ok now to go into some detail about the first 2 movies (I have no plans to see the 3rd.) For those who don’t know The Neverending Story was a book first and a damn good one. The first move is the first part of the book and the 2 is the second part of the book. If you ever get a chance to read the book (and if you do you’ll fall in love) you’ll see that Bastian’s full name is Bastian Balthazar Bux. The 3rd has nothing to do with the true storyline that’s why I won’t see it. I’m sorry guys could have answered those questions when I was 2 and I didn’t’ read the book till I was 15. Just watch it again you’ll see.
