The Fountain

Forum

I know I'm probably one of the few people who enjoyed this film, but it's really worth watching. If you're familiar with Darren Aronofsky's other films ("Pi," "Requiem for a Dream"), you should know that this is just as ambitious as those. I think most people who didn't like it (e.g. Richard Roeper) just didn't get it. The film can be interpreted in different ways so I can see why. But, when did having to think at the movies become such a crime?

This film is very poetic and it reminded me a bit of two other movies: "2001: A Space Odyssey" and "Vanilla Sky." I know those are quite different, but the ambiguity and life/death/re-birth themes of those films are echoed here as well.

i liked requiem for a dream a lot. but i think that the fountain is another masterpiece. i liked really the "form" of the film but the content is open to many interpretations...the graphic effects and the generic is just magestique...really worth watching!
