The movie was filmed on the Chattoga River, which forms the border between South Carolina and Georgia.

Who dies?!

>>By Becky   (Sunday, 8 Jun 2003 23:52)

Can someone explain to me about the following anomalies in John Boorman's Deliverance Film.

1. After the confrontation with the Mountain Men, they hastily depart. Drew does not want to wear his lifejacket and appears to be suffering from shock.
It is assumed that Drew is shot before he falls into the river. No gun fire is heard perhaps because of the sound of the white water on the river. The Mountain Man who escaped is presumed to be the culprit on a vantage point way above on the cliffs..
This conclusion is only reached when Lewis says he was shot. Or was it shock?
There is no mention of a bullet hole when they later find his body.

2. Lewis now with a broken leg, Drew is missing and it only leaves Bobby and Ed to take care of things, believing they are in the line of fire way above their heads on the cliffs.
Ed resorts to tackling this life-threatening situation in place of the capable and accurate Archer - Lewis. Ed later confronts the second Mountain Man near the vantage point; fires an arrow after much deliberation and for some strange reason goes into his own side. The Mountain Man seeing this threat approaces simultaneously, Ed believing the game now to be up expects his fate only to then see his assailant fall over with an arrow in his back?

This has just dawned on me:

Who fired the arrow into his back - deliverance....?
Surely not devine intervention..

In my previous note I mispelt Divine as Devine! My apologies. It's Sunday after all!

In answer to Becky's note of 8 Jun 2003. Quote: (Who dies?! By Becky Sunday, 8 Jun 2003 23:52).

Three peopled died: The two mountain men. One with front teeth; one without front teeth.
Drew "fell" from the canoe.
Query. When the second Mountain Man was mysteriously shot by an arrow in the back, upon checking his identity, Ed noticed the man now had front dentures (and was not wearing a hat). He did look like him. But at the time you think as I did he is somebody else.

what a chilling non horror movie, i've never seen a movie that stayed with me days after. Its the whole idea of isolation and helplessness that scares me and what is most prominent in this movie.
