Is the disease in the movie a an actual disease that can become airborn and what is the full length of time you are able to live once you have the disease ? We are watching it in my chemistry class and we are all hooked onto it.

The diesease in Outbreak is called Ebola. Dr. Frederick A. Murphy was the first scientist to look at it. The outbreaks of Ebola I know of where in Ziare ( at some missionary hospital), Europe ( I am not sure where in europe) and in Fort Detrick Virginia. I am not sure if the outbreak in Virginia was a false alarm or the real thing. If the virus came here or broke out here in the US it would most likely be quarrentined (spelling?). They don't have a vaccine for the Ebola virus so I am not sure what would happen to those who caught it. If your really interested in the Ebols virus go to www.accessexcellence.org. Oh and I don't think the virus is air born but it can mutate I think like HIV and AIDS.

You do know that their is a new virus known as SARS (a flu like virus) has been spreading? It has spread to many countries and so far over 1500 people have caught it and about 60 have died from it. Today is May 31, 2003. The end could be near folks. May God save all our souls.

If you want to know the symptoms, causes, cures, and where this disease has been found, check out the Center for Disease Control web site. www.cdc.gov.

Also the outbreak in Reston VA only infected one person, check out the book Hot Zone for that real story.

The outbreak seem to recognized that the white house has alot to offer but it will only come to us when the people of united states can defend for them selves so who is more deadly than us the people of the white house or the virus who is actually on control do you know.

its so overwhelming story that i myself move to tears when upon seeing that movie...we watch it in our microbio subject to what would be the cause of that virus.....

>>By aljeb   (Sunday, 27 Apr 2003 08:50)

The reston outbreak was contained when some army officials, unkonwn to the general public and media, wiped out the the 500 or so monkeys. The whole pace was also bleached inside out. However no humans developed fatal symptoms from the disease sinnce it was an altered of ebola. The reston case is not anything to worry about. The starin officially became known as Ebola Reston which is believed to only be harful against monkeys.

it was gooooood.. but its not actaully airborne.. it takes 2 to 21 days to know u have the disease and there is no cure.. however u will not die if u get the proper treatment

Sorry, the Virus in this movie was NOT Ebola, it was called Motaba.
Ebola is the virus that was used in the book by the same name, the movie decided Ebola wasn't dangerous enough.
