What happened in the very beginning?

in the beginning a delivery boy travels up to a house in the woods and finds that the old lady(Nells hermit mother) that lived there has died. Others are sent and Nell is found. Although anti-social at first, making loud screeches and talking in a strange manner, a man(forget his name but played by Liam Neeson) takes interest in helping her after finding a note saying that whoever finds Nell should be the one to take care of her. Neesons character reports this to a psychiatric office(spelled correctly???) which gets the attention of a young woman who works there. They both set up camp to study her...(theres no way im finishing the plot, watch it if it sounds good)

Nell is a great way for teachers to use this contexte in their psychology classes, as it covers all the aspects.

i had to do nell as part of my hsc studies and relate it to the topic of retreat from the global. boy was this one annoying movie to sit through again and again. sure it was interesting the first time but by the seventh watching you become immune to the talent of this movie and instead concentrate on what is not good about it. for starters, why does hollywood have to wreck every good plot that comes along by throwing in the romance aspect? love does not present itself every time you have something important come in your life. anyway.

Jody plays her part incredible in this film. I think no one else could do a better job than she did
I believe when ya grew up with and formed by the elements of nature, without any contact with
civilization, you learn to trust and to rely on yer own instincts. In these circumstances, without the influences of a mix of temptations and lies, which are a product of and will produce again
uncertainties, the instinct will develop on basic fundaments of life. Being who you are, knowing what you know, the ability to accept the things you don't ( want to ) know. Dealing with fear on a more intelligent way, etc...... So the individual that come out of this must carry purity in her eyes. That's the reason for me to say 'Nell' could not be played by anyone else than Jody Foster. Ms Foster is a conscient-intelligent woman with that sparkle of purity in her eyes.
