Hey err (refer post on 6 Jul 2003),

The movie that you are thinking of is Irre'sistible (in French), Irreversible (the title of the US release).

Really enjoyed Memento, will see this one too though I am told it is very disquieting.

Larry,

You make some very good points, but I see at least one fatal hole (IMHO) in the theory that Teddy and Lenny were acquainted before Lenny's accident: Every time Lenny sees Teddy, he doesn't recognize him, and has to look at his pictures or be told who Teddy is. We are told that Lenny's memory is intact up until the attack. For Lenny to be faking his entire condition renders the movie pointless, I believe, while for Lenny to be concealing solely his recognition of Teddy unnecessarily complicates the plot. So I doubt they were acquainted before the attack.

I've got other thoughts on the Lenny = Sammy idea, but I want to finish reading the script before I write more.

sammy jenkis IS lenny. i think it was his real name to begin with , and he changed it (Teddy mentions something about lenny's New name) after he over dosed his wife. At first glance, we are led to believe that sammy jenkis is his own character and there is no way he and lenny are the same person because lenny wouldnt have remembered (b/c its after the incident ). However,he remembers because like sammy, his condition is mental, not physical. Lenny forgets because he doesnt want to remember anything after his wife's death. He cant forget his wife if he doesnt feel time. there is a mental block because if he came to terms with reality and memory, the pain would be unbearable. he tells the story of sammy jenkis to others repeatedly only to reasure himself that it was someone else.
