Love Actually

Is this a good lighthearted romantic comedy? I was wondering if it was worth seeing.

I enjoyed it. The fact that there are various parallel stories and that you constlanty hop from one to the other is a bit disturbing at first, but you get used to it. The acting is very good and the music is nice. Bill Nighy is very funny, as well as Rowan Atkinson.

I did not enjoy the movie i thought it was slow at times and i never really got to know a character. I enjoy movies where their is character development and I feel a certain cinematic closeness with them. The movie jumped around too much and seemed more liek a collage of clips rather then having a coherent message.

Yes, they certainly could have dropped a couple of the stories to con centrate on the more interesting characters.

This movie was great! Its a Brit com so it contained a type of essence which most non-Brits would not understand. The different cultures of London were quite vivdily portrayed in my opinion, and being a "Christmas" film, it was important not to centre it around one or two individuals. It provided an over-acrching scope of this festive period, which was important as it mirrored the Christmas theme of togetherness and love being "all around".

I have to disagree with dunlow. Character development was brief but obvious, there simply would not have been enough time! The film didnt digress and was kept at a particular pace to suit the emotions and feelings of the different characters. The comedic aspects were rapid to invoke humour while more serious scenes were slowed to create a thoughtful atmosphere. And what do you mean by no coherent message? "Love actually is all around" - Was that not noticed? All loose ends were tied up in the end. It would have been a rather dull film if it simply aimed to produce a single message, but it was induced on many levels which gave it a good mixture and watch.

Pile of crap. 2 Painful hours of watching it. The only characters I knew were Hugh bloody Grant and his charming beffudlement!!! I shall have to kill Richard Curtis for that one. And I'm still overcoming the fact that he wrote Blackadder with Ben Elton. As well as him I shall have to kill my mother for taking it out because "it's nice and lovey dovey, just what you need right now." Arrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!!!! I DON'T NEED TORTURE FOR 2 HOURS ESPECIALLY IF IT INVOLVES "ROMANTIC COMEDY" ALL I NEEDED WAS A DECENT FILM I COULD LAUGH AT LIKE THE NAKED GUN OR THE FAMILY GUY MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I loved it! I thought that it was a great Christmas film! Rowan Atkinson was hilarious but a bit underused, and I couldn't stop laughing at Colin Firth's efforts to speak French. lolol

Ah jesus this film was soooooooooooo overrated. what was so good about it? hugh grant? the man has only 1 charachter which he seems to get away playing in every movie (with the exception of mickey blue eyes coz thats just a funny film). Even Liam neeson was dissappointing. seems to me they thought "hey, we'll just shove a load of famous actors in a brithins rom com and see how that goes"....................disasterious.

I liked it, thought it was pretty funny.

"Pile of crap. 2 Painful hours of watching it. The only characters I knew were Hugh bloody Grant and his charming beffudlement!!!"

Do you mean he was the only actor you knew? There are tonnes of well know actors in it unless you're american then you won't know them. But you've got Rowan Atkinson, Colin Firth, Bill Nighy, mechelle something (she was in eastenders). They are the ones whos names i know but there is also Nick from my family, the blonde from bend it like beckham and tim out of the office.

Oh it seems my comments comes quite late ;P Anyway I like this movie VERY much. A nice, lovely, warm comedy. And I love the scene that the old rocking star recording "love is all round". Funny!
Which story do you like most? I prefer the little boy's story.

I think of this movie every time i'm in an airport arrival lounge. It is truly lovely to see people anticipating the arrival of family friends, loved ones and even strangers.

it always manages to put a smile on my face
