In a couple of words:

Great movie, definitly a great storie!!!

I agree that this movie definitly did its job. My only concern was that it was too rigid to the book. It told the story almost page for page, apart from the Saromon emmision of course.
I would have liked to have seen someone like Lynch have a go at directing it. To take the idea and the story but use some directors licence to somehow increase the experience. This is of course what he did with Dune.
That said I believe the LOTR trilogy to be a very satisfying cinema experience.

"Satiisfying cinema experience" its a god dam master piece and pj was the man to do it.. I dont think i would of enjoyed as much if they hadnt have struck to the book as they did and curse the director you tries to increase the experience or change it from what it is only the pj man can do that.

good fight scenes but not much else

MetalBlade you know nothing, "good fight scenes" if you only look at the film from that point of view i feel sorry for you cause you dont understand the true story and nature of lord of the rings, and the work that went into to making a film that will be rememberd as long as movies exist and even after with the books.

you must look by the action scenes although they are kickass and get down to the story and the whole history of middleearth and the struggle all the different cultures and beings have to face and the people and relationships that are point on the line over such a small thing like a ring.that is what the movie is truely about...

Hell yeah! He'd have done it brilliantly!

The whole trilogy was very good I thought, but a little bit... shiny. I dunno, I s'pose that's just my personal taste. I don't like the way all the posters have Aragorn taking up the most room. Cos he's not the protaganist. It's like they looked at the characters and went 'Who should be the hero? Not Frodo, he's too small, not Gandalf, too old. Oh look - a handsome, human male, he'll do.' But that's just the way it was marketed, they were excellent films.

But yeah, Lynch would kick Jackson's ass. ;)
