it was changed from leon to the professional when part of the original movie was cut out because of the violence that america couldn't handle.

Since that time, he never slept in a bed again, but sitting on a chair. He works as a killer and his only friend is a flower. Leon depicted a life extension of the legendary himman, created by John Woo in his direcotrial master piece: The Killer.

i'm just curious cause the plot of the movie seems alot like another movie that i saw a small part of which is about a lady that was trained to be an assasin or a killer or something like that.. and then something happened and she forgot about it all and then she started to remember everything. does the movie leon have a sequal?

I saw "The Professional" on TV. So I went out and rented it. Then I bought it. Now I'm looking for Leon. Does anyone know of a good place to get it? Also, I searched for it, and it said that it was also known as "The Cleaner." Is this just a nickname, or is there another version out there?

I just bought Leon at Best Buy yesterday...so, thanks (or no thanks) for your input.

To those going on about this being an extension of Chow-Yun Fat's character in John Woo's The Killer, you might want to check out a little film called Le Samourai, directed by Jean-Pierre Melville in the late 60s/maybe early 70s. This film, as well as Jean-Pierre Melville's other films (most prominently Le Cercle Rouge), is where John Woo got alot of his ideas not just for The Killer but also for the A Better Tomorrow films, Once A Thief, Hard-Boiled, etc etc. John Woo's nearly homoerotic male relationships are a direct extension of the sort of masculinity and brotherhood Jean-Pierre Melville's criminals and cops shared.

Gary Oldman is brilliant and frightening. Natalie Portman gives the best performance of her life (even up to now). It's an action film with real heart and a gripping story. In my opinion it's the best film ever made.

I had the feeling it is a little bit like Ghostdog. But I didn't see Leon for such a long time I don't remember it was that good...

They removed stuff like (spoilers!) Matilda trying to commit suicide, Leon going on a killing spree with Matilda, Matilda telling Leon she loves him.
