Some of my unedited lecture notes:

-No wasy Jesus could have a son…-FH was contrary to Jesus (drugs, no family, learned thnkgs the hard way) -Sort of aBiblical alegory -something mystical about FH –everyone is a son of God. Jack Black, orderly. He didn’t see the cemetary, same visions.

The presence of chronology or lack of chronology. Organization suggests chaos of drug use. Organization gives a jump start…into the future—tempts audience blatant foreshadowing. Edginess brought us into it, rather than being linear. Having to keep up. FH’s reactions to girlfriend shooting up, causalness of eating cerial and watching cartoons. Doesn’t judge people. When DunDun killed McKinnes, wanted to hear both sides. People are judging him all the time. FH is crucified by others. Jesus didn’t judge anyone. Initmacy –1. Michelle and FH, and 2. FH and himself. 1. Communication problems. Going to Mexico with John Smith…what if you pretended you were the one. The one in her life, the guy. Gives him a question that he doesn’t answer, he is high, trying to be honest, it is all about him and not listening to her. Also, the notion that they are pretending sex is the first time, like they are new, not moving forward denies progress and transformation. Getting to know each other more and progressing. I rememeber everything you said, but there is a symbolic notion of standing still. Recreating a more idealic beginning. How much can they know each other, because at the end they are both on heroin. In the abortion clinic, he comes in rather than comforting her he asks “what did they stick up you? The nurse says, michelle is comfortable now, he asks if she is dead. He follows up with “can we try again”—the conversation? Another kid? What a crude thing to say. Suggests that he doesn’t know her or himself. The note “I took some pills, wake me if you still want me.” If he knew her well enough, would he have known that her response would be to kill her…do something dangerous. The note itself too “if you still want me”, this evening, or period on this planet. Suggests that it might have been his fault. Something about the guy, he looked lucky, Satain is Real is playing in the background. Who was the guy and what was this scene preceding Michelle leaving. Looking into hell, the fire and th flames. Michelle has gone south. He had a chest like Christ’s. never been atracted to a man, had an erection. Thought that everyone was god. Satisfied fake smile. The pill is like an easter egg. He is reborn, almost dies or ods. Steady hands, shaving Dennis Hopper…why does he need to talk into his bullet hole and tell him that he is fine? People with tragic lives end up being ok and getting through it. Why does she have the crutch? Doesn’t it make them lucky that they didn’t die. She who he meets later and views things that ar right, contrast to the Dennis Hopper character. The Menanites, at the window, does or doesn’t the woman see him, reaches through the glass. Does it matter if she sees him. Brushes her hair. Looked satisfied. Later when he walks by the house he seems to think that he doesn’t need to stop and listen anymore. Many rehab centers in the SW. Physically, spiritaully, and mentally. Desert seems void of life, but it is really not. Living vicariously thorugh the Menanite family. Contrast between he and Wayne. Sells copper. Vision of naked woman flying by, wandered into a dream. You could see the mecahnism of the flying. What has been good has become corrupted and destroyed, represents his past and past life. We had money, usually we felt guilty, but we weren’t. Split screen. The role of drugs in FH’s life.
