I want to know about the real facts behind the arrest of Gerry Conlen

I thought this movie did an excellent job of capturing the sentiment and hostilities that existed at the time between Irish Nationalists and the English government. It was very historically accurate.

I loved this movie Daniel Day Lewis is one of the best modern day actors, he played the role of Gerry Conlon to perfection. I also loved Pete Postelwhaite, you really have pity for his charachter being caught up in Gerrys mess but you respect his ethics and morals also. Apart from the fact that in real life the father and son did not share a prison cell i think this movie was the best portrayal of the Guilford 4 and the innocent victims of it all. Its so sad to think that it happened at all.

The film left me with an undescribable impression. A film about the situation in Ireland, a country so close where things happen i presumed only to be happened somewhere on the other side of planet Earth. And now i came to this page i have to discover that the story of Gerry is a true one. I really didn't know. Many credits to Gerry Conlon.
Besides: I really like Daniel Day Lewis as an actor, yet the only characters i know of him are in this film, 'Gerry' and in 'Last of the Mohicans'. But in both he's great.
