This movie is so old it should be in the discount bin at Wally World by now. I'll watch it when it gets there.

I just love this film.

I have just started to produce films and if I can ever do anything as clever, powerful, funny and heart breaking as this then I will die a happy man.

Why the soundtrack has never been released as a soundtrack is totally beyond me.

I'm a grandmother of 9 and brought my four children up with the philosophy of this film..It was my childrens favorite when they were growing up..(They think I'm Maude)...It's always been my favorite...I don't see the price of it going down anytime soon.
.Yea, it would have nice if they released the sound track but the tunes are all on Cat Stevens Greatest hits.
.I'm so glad you young people are watching this wonderful story of life and loving it......

i love this movie..because it explains my theory that love has no age limit or "age ain't nothing , but a number' who's to say if u share a lot in common and u sincerely enjoy someone's company and they make u happy (i mean really happy) that their age should matter? it shouldn't in my eyes..thats one of the many lessons in this movie..
your only as old as u let urself be, life is to be lived and love is to be experienced..they were in love..beautiful, natural, wonderful love...
we all should be soo lucky
Make urself happy, be ur own person, go to bed smiling....learn from this film and its lessons..and carpe' diem (seize the day)
make it ur own..everyone should have a little maude in them and i believe they do

i find it amusing how freaked out a lot of people are by the thought of ruth gordon as a sexual person...i think whether you like this movie or not says a lot about your personal perspective on the world. i can't imagein having a very close friend who didn't like it, as it's meant so much to me over the years, particularly following my father's death.
such a great film! hal ashby hasn't done anything else that even approaches this level.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!
my sister bought it for me in new york, and its so super great! the part i thought was most... sentimental is when he looks at her arm and it has the numbers on it from a concentration camp.
but it was sad..... this is a great movie.

This movie is by far at the top of my list. It is not even just about Maude, although she is a fantastic character but also about Harold's bizarre character. The death scenes are hilarious and the ingenuity of the film is beyond compare to anything else I have seen thus far. Please feel free to prove me wrong with any comparisons.

Nothing in this genre can compare. This film encompases every emotion; joy, sadness, boredom, rebellion, anger... just everything is here. I love getting this out during the winter months or late spring because it is such a good pick me up. The scenes with Ruth Gorden and the cop (who is listed with a diff. name than Tom Skerrit, early in his career apparently) are gut-busting hilarious, especially if you lived through that "hippie-stomping cop" era as I have and were on the stomped end. Harold's uncle that is in the service is also a great comic relief to this otherwise bitter-sweet film. Maude's caboose home is so nostalgic for me because there were two of these type of homes in our town and it was so fun to see someone living in them permanently just like the film. I try as hard as I can to live with her philosophy and try EVERYTHING that comes my way. "Ahhh, life!" None of these actors have done anything that compares to this milestone film since and the world is a darker place without Ruth Gordon.

If you watch any of Ruth Gordon's interviews or any other little tidbits, you can tell that her personality shines through in Harold and Maude, and the genius of casting in that movie is wonderful. Not to mention Bud Cort's astonishing part and being such a young actor.
It's my favorite. Well, in my top three.

Enough about Harold and Maude. You shoud chek out "Little Murders" which is a much better film. The plot, the characters and te nightly run through Central Park where the character "Motherfucker" ruled the turf. A great movie to watch and the dark humor stands out.
