I saw this trash and had to go take a shower to wash the nastiness off of me. Anyone who enjoys this should be deported.

This movie is insane... I have never in my life seen anything as moving as it.. It is as Beautiful as it is disturbing. However, it just goes to show that there are people like this. It is ok to not like the movie, not everyone can handle the intensity. I mean lets face it, its a little odd. I think Korine is a Genius. These people are not acting. They just arent. Despite what critics may think, its not a hollywood classic. Theres no Nicole Kidman, no Kurt Russel, No Jennifer Love Hewitt. This film is an original and will never be forgotten.

I like cherries on my ice-cream....
Short of buying it, i cannot find this awesome piece of artistic inspiration in any video store or media shop. It is one of the most mind etching creations i have seen to date... I'm from Australia, and this is the first real glimpse of 'the deep south'. We do have our own version of 'tight knit' communities, but nothing so... blatently backwards (no offence). Any way this is a film to remember, two big thumbs up.

I saw Gummo last night for the first time and was disturbed .....but loved the movie

>>By Phishead   (Wednesday, 12 Mar 2003 21:26)

someone tell me what the fuck it all means!

>>By petervenkman   (Monday, 17 Mar 2003 03:08)

To: Benno

First of all, Gummo is about a NORTHERN community you dumbass. So if your going to write something on a website pertaining to a movie, make sure your comments are correct. The "Deep South" you mention would never say, hey all Australians are a bunch of Northern Territory kangaroo fuckers, while you might live in another territory. Get your geography straight you dick!

>>By Movieguy   (Saturday, 29 Mar 2003 23:01)

If you liked this movie then you should check out the movie Trash (1970) - it is a lot more fucken disturbing.

I know of a place thats alot like the setting of gummo, and for all you people who are debating location, in the movie I hear someone refer to it as Ohio. So midwest, not northern nor southern.

this movie is so fucking great I can't even comprehend where to begin. As said before, this actually goes on. I have some cousins raised in a similiar area, they are far too reminescent of the scene where the 2 younger boys play shoot the rabbit kid.

What are they just mad we get more pussy than they do?

>>By Solly   (Sunday, 27 Apr 2003 00:10)

I think the most twisted and disturbing thing about this movie, and the reason I like it, is the fact that it seems so real. Throughout this movie I was never quite sure if it was scripted or if it was really happening. All of the characters seemed like real people. No one was a "good" or "bad" character. I think that was the key to the movie. No one seemed fake.

Hmm.. no one has really commented about the meaning of it.. One of the main themes is brought out by the upside down cross in the beginning and end, along with the retarded girl who stands in the background smileing when the guy is talking about suicide.. and the theme is made quite obvious in the final scene when she is singing "Jesus loves me." Just watch it again and think about it. and dont instantly think "oh, anti religion!".. its deeper than that.

This movie is "The Uberfilm". After spending my life looking at all these main-stream teen movies with R-ratings, and the endless numbers of boy has shitty Girlfriend, boy looses GF in some dramatic way but you don't care because she's a sh*tty actor as well, boy finds spark in unlikely girl, boy dates other girl for bet/jealosy factor/revenge, boy ends up actually falling in love with new girl, new girl finds out about bet/jealousy factor/revenge plot, Something dramatic happens and boy ends up with new girl in a happy relation. I AM FU*KING SICK OF THESE BULLS*IT HAPPY ENDINGS! Thats not the way things are! Then I found a little treat in the movie store, called the special intrest section. I have seen some of the best movies EVER made, only in this section. To walk you through the whole movie would be redundant, because it's a movie that needs to be interpreted by the veiwer. If I were to tell you then you would recive my point of veiw. but if you insist i will give you a little, I feel that the Rabbit-kid is the traditional seperatist/outcast/non-conformist/the black guy in the small white-dominated town. The little kids dressed as cowboys represent the Oafs that always found entertainment without remorse in beating this person into the dirt, metally and phisically. I know there must be a few people that don't agree with this, but I did tell you that it needs to be interpreted, therefore more than one vision can be made.

Gummo is about the town I live in.. Pretty skrewed up isnt it? I have never seen the movie myself but have been told by many of my friends to watch it considering it takes place after the Xenia tornado of 1974.

>>By PottsTheRIpper   (Thursday, 19 Jun 2003 00:29)

okay this movie had no damn plot. i dont understand how paying someone to fuck their retarded sister and mass cat killing can be meaningful. the creators tried to hard to be "deep" and sunk into the grundgy-sundance film-picture of human life in truest form bullshit. who the hell beats up chairs and unplugs grandmas from life support?

Gummo is amazing. If you don't like it you should be lined up behind Bush for execution.

>>By Artock   (Thursday, 17 Jul 2003 04:34)

I am so mentaly disturbed from this movie. i will never look at life the same.

>>By monkey808   (Monday, 28 Jul 2003 10:16)

I think Gummo is a movie where you just has to have an oppinion about. I think it's great, but also a bit creapy. It lets you see that maybe there ARE people like this.

Ther's one part in the movie where a man says that he has tried suiside but that it didn't worked, that he just don't know what to do any more. "wich way shall I fucking turn?!?"
I think the movie is about wich way the people of the town turned. The things you see they do is just to pass their time in life.

This is briliant: "Life is beautiful, realy it is, full of beauty and illusions. Life is great, witouth it you'd be dead"

Gummo is artful and awful.

the soundtrack was well done. when the two great cat hunters were dispatched intially, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Sleep's "Dragonaut". the movie could've done with some better editing but i was happy with this effort.

FYI: the dead bunny scene with the little swearing bastard was played in the movie Belly. They dedicated a whole scene to it when the boys come back to the rico suave pad. they played it in it's entirety.

i'm out...
