There should be a sequel!

>>By Rabbit   (Monday, 20 Jan 2003 02:40)

What can I say? Crowe and Phoenix are awesome. I just knew I wouldn't like this movie. I was wrong. I could watch it over and over.

Unquestionably the finest Roman era film ever made, just jaw-droppingly good from start to finish, magnificent acting by the whole crew....just awesome......get real about a sequel, the main mans dead.....DUHHHHHH

>>By Gazzahugs   (Sunday, 22 Jun 2003 11:36)

seriously, maximus is dead, caeser is dead, i mean, what would the sequel be, a 4 hour long film of crowes dead body decomposing?

other than that yeah, the movie was freaking amazing

great movie, crowe is gross tho. don't like him very much, i think they could have picked someone better the play the role.

>>By catie   (Tuesday, 30 Sep 2003 23:32)

he is so f*ckin gorgeous, could watch him all day. And the film woz well powerful...

>>By Sexybitch101   (Friday, 13 Feb 2004 21:13)

I didn't see galdiator until recently and was expecting to hate it because it stars Crowe and the media make him out to be an overrated wanker. Whatever about his other films i thought he was amazing in gladiator, and absolutely ideal for the part. Tough and masculine but not in the hollywood/stallone/schwarzenegger type of masculine. Rugged masculine, the way a gladiator would've been. Phoenix was excellent too, he made me hate him on screen which is very hard considerin i think he's a complete Shag. all around, a good movie. as homer simpson would say 7 thumbs up!

Joaquin Phoenix is just brilliant
in this movie--he has such deep,
dark eyes...He looked so bad
and disturbed and I loved it.

Only he played an emperor that has never really existed ... Why can't people stick to history as it is?

>>By Aywin   (Monday, 15 Mar 2004 19:27)

YEah Gladiator is not historically accurate AT ALL, The movie makers compromised history to please today's American audience and make more money. Shame on them.

>>By shortra   (Tuesday, 16 Mar 2004 06:48)

Absolutely the most OVERHYPED LOAD OF feaces EVER MADE.

I wouldn't watch it again if I was gaffer tapped to the couch. I'd swallow my own tounge like Miggs from Silence of the Lambs and take the easy way out.

I actually punched the screen when Russell Crowe started telling to the other gladiators to "WORK TOGETHER". AS IF!!!? Spout that management consultant rhetoric in Anchient Rome and they'll chop your nuts off!!! This line totally ruined the suspension of disbelief for me. All I could fixate on was some management consultant's little teamwork masturbation agenda. Well - well done twat - You've ruined a highly expensive piece of art!

RUBBISH. AVOID IT LIKE A HYPERDERMIC NEEDLE FROM A MAN WITH AIDS.

i love everything about roman history but not the best movie filled with historic inaccuracies but if you ignore that great movie

>>By therion   (Tuesday, 30 Mar 2004 00:13)

haven't seen it. don't want to.
russell crowe is so full of himself, it shows in every role he plays, and he has ruined many potentially decent plots with his arrogant manner.

>>By larikin   (Tuesday, 30 Mar 2004 07:01)

yes but you have to remember the Romans were arrogant to they used to believe they were caput mundi centre of the world so the shoe fits

>>By therion   (Tuesday, 30 Mar 2004 16:33)

They should have called this movie every womans fantasy. I wonder if the guys wondered why their wives were so up for seeing Gladiator when they normally stay home for teststerone flicks. I'm also curious if they wondered why they got it so good later that night....

>>By Miss Krux   (Tuesday, 27 Jul 2004 15:23)

This was a fantastic film. Russell Crowe, as usual, was at his best. He is so believable. Also, the movie soundtrack is great.

>>By Taliesyn   (Tuesday, 24 Aug 2004 15:35)

too bad there are easily spotted mistakes in the film....it was okay, i enjoyed it.

>>By quiet-kid   (Friday, 27 Aug 2004 21:55)

I love this film, no matter how many mistakes were in it, after all the director is only human! I love the bit at the end when he returns to his farm and meets his wife and son again, ahh bless!
Plus the music is brill!

>>By fairy dust   (Monday, 30 Aug 2004 19:19)

>>By zeromenace   (Wednesday, 19 Jan 2005 16:29)

Excellent, who cares about the historical accuracy (or lack of it)? - this is Hollywood.
Russell Crowe in a leather kilt!
The other actors were good as well.
The Elysian fields bit at the end was very moving.

>>By horliks   (Friday, 21 Jan 2005 21:51)

i agree horliks!!!
