Hi=I just watched Fountainhead-Did the husband kill himself because he had a feeling his wife and Roark were in love or because he felt his dreams were coming to an end?

The head of the newspaper (the divided man, in whom the conflict normally between other figures is within) is motivated first to get his house in order (by assigning the Wynand Bldg. completion) and then to end it all (suicide) due to this duality: he was assertive and therefore a success, but the success he won was illusory since he did it by editorially selling out to the lowest readership. When his conviction that every man had his price was confronted by people who couldn't be bought, he couldn't bear to continue - although he aquitted himself somewhat by recognizing the greatness of Roark, his rival and friend.
