Dead Poet Society

Forum

I would like to commend this film. For anyone who has not seen this, I would advise them to. This has to be one of my favourite films of all time. Robin Williams plays a strong character, although I am not usually a particular fan of his work, I was rather impressed. The film is inspiring and fresh. This could fill anyone's interest, a true masterpiece in my opinion.

WHO should bear blame for the death of Neil
one of the students Neil Perry, commits suicide because he feels life is meaningless. In some degree Neil himself, to somewhat school and the most Neil's parents should bear blame for his death.

The only person to blame for Neil's death is himself. Yes other forces drove him to it (his father) but he allowed himself to give up all hope, no one gave him a gun or put a gun up to his head. His choice was stupid because his father did give him a chance to tell him what Neil thought but Neil didn't take it. Great movie, powerful ending. :)

how did todd seize his day???

>>By hummm....   (Saturday, 7 Jun 2003 14:34)

yeah i think todd did. i jsut watcehd this movie becuase im home sick and i loved it. I think that yeah, neils to blame, but i think he did it to teach his father a lesson. i mean i hate to say it, but i can totally see why he did it. i wouldnt have had the courage to do the same thing in his situation, but i wouldve felt like it. i proabbaly wouldve just ran away. i think todd seized his day at the end when he stood up on his desk. but yeah great movie. i watched it again

In fact what Todd did at the end was more courageous than anything that had come before. He stood up in defence of someone he loved and a set of values he believed in, against the enire school system, embodied by the class and the headmaster. It's also striking that he's the one who comments on it and who thinks back on it. He was probably most affected by it in his later life.

i hated the movie coz it was really boring

>>By ~roni~   (Tuesday, 16 Dec 2003 00:23)

Roni, you obviously didn't take the time to look at it properly. There's no real romance and there's no action (meaning fights), but if that's all you're looking for, check out Conan the Barbarian, will you ...

This movie led me to W.Witman's poetry! THX for that!
