Dangerous Lives Of Alter Boys

Forum

The dangerous lives of alter boys was a very compelling movie. it brought me to tears near the end with it's sad realities. i personally disagree with all of the terrible reviews it got. i am going out to buy it this weekend. i laughed, i cried, i'm dropping my crutches and running towards you! he he, go alter boys! That's a very thoughtful question.

I thought this movie was amazing. It is now my favorite movie of all time, and had by far the best acting cast in the world

i think this is the best movie i have ever seen, it is so good and it really shows what life is like for a teenage boy growing up, it goes through hard times, good times and bad times. i think the acting in this movie is so awsome , oh and by the way Kieran Culkin you are so hott!!!

Okay, I thought this movie was very interesting. The acting was great. I went to a private school and I can relate with the characters.
The characters acted older than they really were (the use of alcohol and drugs. Oh, and lets not forget the vandalism.)
I only have one question. Did any one else find the "sex" scene with Francis and his girlfriend disturbing?

the dangerous lives of alter boys was a very disturbing movie. in fact i'm 20 years old and it kept me up. that's a hard thing to do. all and all it was a very good movie. but there should be a warning lable on the outside of every case.for the parents of children who like to sneak a peak at things that look horrifiengly real. after returning the movie to the rental store i took it upon myself to warn the store clerk not to let those with a weak stomach or with children not to rent or buy it. but let's not get our panty's in a twist it was however a very very excellently made film.the animation was awesom and kiernan culkin has defanatley stepped out of his brother's short lived acting curse. i think the road holds many other great movies for him. and jody foster play's a great hell bitch. and to the director of the movie.you scared the shit out me. your an awesom film maker if you can do that.

I found the movie too choppy for my taste. Different scenes were just strung together in the hopes the pieces would fit into a logical whole, and it didn't work for me. In addition, the sex scene followed by the ghost, as well as the heroine's relationship with her brother, seemed out of context. It belonged in another movie or should have been worked into the script better. On another note, Jody Foster proved, once again, that she is a dynamic actress. I also loved the animation. Let hear it for Nunzilla!

Its very hard to find a quality movie with the right kind of laughs...and the right kind of pain. This put the two together in a sweet and shocking way. Fucking beautiful!

whoever said that this movie was disturbing has never seen a single really disturbing movie or probably thing. I know what u mean that it was sad but thats about it. Anyway, i loved this movie except for whoever said that her relationship with her brother was a bit awkardly placed/explained. Like it never really found its place with the whole movie but i still love the whole thing cause it almost worked and almost everything else was really exellent.

After hearing the rave reviews of 'Alter Boys' I was sure I was in for a very special film. Before watching the film I discovered it was directed by no other than Pete Care whose most recent endevour was to direct the disastrous R.E.M.'s 'Road Movie'. From here on in I knew I was in for a let down. The editing is abysmal and the scenes are strung together as if placed on a broken string. Not to mention appalling acting by no other than Jena Malone who is not helped in any way by the script based on Chris Fuhrman's tale which was criticised back in the day for being over-dramitised for the sake of being anti-Catholic which was apparently the easiest way of entering the world of writing but has since lost its allure as everyone these days seems to be doing it and appears cheap.

Proffessional reviewers suck. That much is obvious. they slam a great movie like this ("simple and pedestrian"? geez). The truth is this film is well paced, loaded with subtext, dark, vulnerable, fearless and utterly watchable. The cartoon segments that punctuate key moments do more to put us inside the psyche of these boys than a dozen cheezy dream sequences "modern" films fall prone to. Thank god there are truly independant reviewers out there and forums like this that put out of touch pro-reviewers in their place. Maybe being forced to watch so many slow paced foriegn films from the 50s in film school will jade anyone's pallatte. I prefer a well produced American film like this anytime.

Well it's Altar boys...lol...spelling errors, sorry im a spelling and grammar freak. it was a very good movie. as far as the part about margie and her brother donny and the part where she says she slept with him is also oddly placed in the book. i dont know how the director and writers could've changed that but i do not think it's a flaw of the movie, it's more a flaw of the book. i love this movie and emile hirsch is sooooo gorgeous.
