What a hilarious movie. One of the few cases wher the movie is as good as the book. They did Helen Fielding proud I'm sure. The cast was bang-on perfect. Hugh Grant walked right out of HF's page and onto the screen. Colin Firth was unbelievably adorable, charming, sexy...and Rene Zellwegger was...welll.. delightful.
The opening scene with her drunk in red flannel Pj's singing "All by myself" was so perfect only a thirty year old singleton could tell you just how much so... Looking forward to the sequal. Funny thing is that in the novel- Bridget's new career take her to interview- non other, than film and TV star Colin Firth.

You have to love this movie -- a group of us single people call ourselves "songletons" -- I give this movie four thumbs up!

i love dis film too. although now whenever i hear dat song "all by myself"
i get this weird mental picture of renee zellwegger with a bottle of wine singing in her pj's.

Well, whatever girls may think, I can't really believe a story in which two handsome, established men fight for a fat woman, who appears to be as silly as a woman can get

bridget jones isn't fat. she's average. i admit that the two men were far ABOVE average, but just because we see a normal sized woman on screen for once, it isn't any reason to pull out the fat jokes.

and i'm not overweight, so don't say something ridiculous about fat chicks sticking together.

i quite enjoyed this film, but i must say the book is much better - totally hillarious!
i agree with rasp.juice, R. Zellwegger isn't fat, just normal, but that's the Hollywood rules i guess.
and just like beloved i always imagine her with a bottle of wine when i hear "all by myself". i actually hated that song, but now i smile whenever i hear it.

Renee Zellweger was great in this. I really enjoyed this movie, and would certainly reccomend it to anyone who hasn't seen it. I also recently saw BJD2, but it wasnt nearly as good.

Hilarious....and you get Renee as a bonus. Query: did this movie work only because _she_ played the lead in it ?
