| Discussion: Zulu Have been watching the miniseries. It's fascinating, but I am a bit confused on some points. I'd like to read the book, if there was one. Did this originate as a book? It was a different movie in 1964 and now seems even more remarkable. There are a few racist remarks made, but each one is quickly corrected by another character in the movie. These corrections promoted respect for the Zulu warriors and soon you agreed. By the end of the battle, 11 Victoria crosses had been won (The victoria cross is the highest medal awarded to British military and is highly prized by collectors). To win 11 in one battle has never been done before or since. If you like this movie, you should also see Zulu Dawn, A later release which shows the battle between the A british Column and the Zulus which took place that same morning.
