Discussion: The Professional

Behind the fact that Leon is a professional killer, he show us a different aspect of "Love"...That feeling that even he doesn't understand.
Also, During the movie his multipersonality play a big deal about the loveable guy and the professional killer...

Leon is indeed an interesting character when it comes to those little intricate details that the director manages to put in there. The consistent workout every morning, the glasses of milk, sleeping in an ever ready position of defense. Leon is smooth as glass when it comes to the killing game but he seems awkwardly out of place in other situations in life; ones as simply as changing apartments.

The best thing about this movie is definetly the fact that there is a loving relationship between Leon and Matilda, but its not a pedophiliac relationship, so sexual tension just blind love and trust between these two outcasts. Excellent stuff.

Yo, I was wondering about something. Is Leon:The professional a different version of the movie, because I have The Professional and have been looking at some pictures that look intriguing but definetly weren't in my movie so I'm lookin for some back up on this. If there is one, is it any good or better than the one I have? thanx people

Yeah, I second that notion. The "Leon: The Professional" international cut looks intriguing but I'm not sure if I wanna invest in it if its nuttin but two exta scenes or something like that. More knowledgable people out there, get back to me!

Is the D.E.A. ficticious? If not, surely they some complaints about their portrayal as hitmen for a drugged-up psychopath.

Best movie I've seen, and I've seen a few. Every scene is a gem, beautifully shot, and would serve brilliantly in a trailer for the movie.
I think the 1994 version is better than the longer version because it flows better, but it is worth seeing the directors version to see more of the movie (20+ minutes).
Oh, and there is clearly a lolita aspect to it all - the love isn't just father/daughter but is more than that - like two lovers - dodgy, but fits the characters perfectly.

Once again: I look forward to the film that tops this on my personal favourite movies.

I seriously doubt that a drug-addled psychotic like Stansfield could have ever made it into the DEA, nor could his posse of retarted thugs. Corrupt and brutal as the DEA are, they are not in the habit of using psychopaths to "enforce" the law.

its been my favorite movie before i got a tape of it and watched it too many times. Natalie Portman's pretty amazing, yes the Lolita movie has a same effect... i read that Portman was intended for the part at first but ending up not taking it. but Swain was great in Lolita also. Gary Oldman is, great... so intense. loved the ending... can't be beat. isn't the lady at the end in girl interrupted also? and at first i thought the school didn't take her, but then, i realized they probably did, cuz she planted the plant...
anyhow... its just really moving. for me. at least. oh and um, the extra 20 mins, i saw glimpses of it on tv on time but didn't get the recorded version...

i can watch that movie over and over and.... Well, It's great. I have a thing for Gary Oldman (don't ask), and his intensity in this movie drove me over the edge. The story was great, and movies like this are really worth watching if it's smart. I've seen too many movies where the hero never runs out of bullets, and never gets hurt. Give me a break. I'm glad things made sense in this, because even he couldn't get away. Awwww.... But the song that plays at the end, I think It's Sting that sings it, is completely beautiful. I rewinded that song five times before I turned it off.
