| Discussion: The Fabulous World Of Amelie i think it's a great movie. everybody who has seen it reallly loved it. its original presentation gives a refreshing taste of life. >>By clo Generally, I hate French movies. But this one was so different (I was in the middle of a torrid affair, though. In fact, we were fondling each other in the theater.), it caught me off guard. Yes, the plot was contrived. But the direction was good, the acting was good, and the idea of changing one's life in a different direction does need reinforcement, from time to time. I started watching it without the subtitles in a deranged attempt to learn French because I know the story so well I figured language would come easy. This has resulted in the unusual circumstance that I can now say things in French, but I have no idea how to spell them or understand if anyone else speaks French outside the context of Amelie.
