Generally, I hate French movies. But this one was so different (I was in the middle of a torrid affair, though. In fact, we were fondling each other in the theater.), it caught me off guard. Yes, the plot was contrived. But the direction was good, the acting was good, and the idea of changing one's life in a different direction does need reinforcement, from time to time. Even for jaded moviegoers like me.

The movie is simply brilliant... And I like almost every aspect of it. The wholeness - it's just plain superb. Got it on DVD, and I've seen it probably a hundred times now... Can't get enough of this film. French film at it's greatest. - Sidious

This is my new favourite movie (along with the billions of other movies i adore :-)). I started watching it without the subtitles in a deranged attempt to learn French because I know the story so well I figured language would come easy. This has resulted in the unusual circumstance that I can now say things in French, but I have no idea how to spell them or understand if anyone else speaks French outside the context of Amelie. Anyway. Fabulous movie.
