I am a preist from a small town in Italy. You all have no idea how close you all are to the evil that that could take your soul in an instant-quicker than you could could pray the first words of a hail mary. This evil is real. I have seen it firsthand. The devil murders those innocent he posesses. My soul screams in horror and agony each night for all i have seen. Satan is real. Don't doubt it for a moment. I pray he comes for you who do. firstname.lastname@example.org

I've seen the excorcist and I didn't think it was scary... I liked it a lot and now I'm addicted... but I wonder... father the preist says it looks a lot like reality... but who says it isn't like reality.. I believe it's possible that it's ''coppied'' from real...

wow what a film, its a credit to william freidkin. it wasnt as scary as everyone says but it does make u think about the other side. its more a physcological thing rather than a scary thing. i love the film and cud watch it over and over again. its dark and atmospheric, it truly is one of the greatest ever horror films ever made if no the greatest.

I think the movie was pretty good. Its not scary though, but i guess it must have been scary 30 years ago, but its out dated now. But it dosent deserve the title 'scariest movie ever made'. It may have been back then but not no more. I guess it makes you think of things outside yor comfort zone

I have not yet seen the excorcist. i am about to embark on a journey of pure horror. i have made plans to sit with my girl tonight with the candles lit and the lights off... for some you may think this is a joke, but after the research i have done i must say that i am convinced the devil is real and he walks among we mortals... I read the story that the movie was based on. Mind you these were semi actual events. a young boy was allegadly posessed by a demonic creature... in 1949 the story was told in a highly respected news paper in washington... this is why i believe my exsorcist experience will be much better than most. i will report again after i have viewed,
wish me luck,

The first time I saw this movie, was well after I had read the book............I would say in the early 80's. I recently purchased the movie, remastered, etc. The movie once again had me thinking, and if you have not read the book, you will not know of what I speak. In the book, there is considerable time spent on Damian's questioning of faith. He opted to save an innocent over the choices he had made in life (right or wrong). He questioned his church and his faith, but as a believer, he chose to save a life.
As noble as this is, in a movie setting, how many of us would do that.
I have read many entries of people laughing and thinking the movie was funny. It was never meant to be a comedy. It was meant to be a reflection, or a reality.
I do not have the answers. I don't pretend to. But there is a thing called "faith", and how that can raise you up or bring you down.
To father Robardo: "Non e' la chiesa dove ci fa conforto, ma il credo."

I personally have a strong distaste for the film. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and was quite disappointed with the adaptation.
I think not.
I think the idea of 'The Devil' is a personification. The Devil is an everyday Evil such as Infection or Plague.
