Discussion: The Beginning And The End

This has to be one of the best films I have ever seen. Arturo Ripstein shows how the fabric between comfort and destitution is so thin, and he succeeds in this movie. The film begins with the death of the family patriarch. From there, all hopes are pinned on the youngest son to get the family out of its desperate plight. How the weight of such a burden becomes to much for him is deeply moving. I have yet to find it on video or DVD in the U.S. However, if you can find it, by all means, please see it.
