Discussion: Spirited Away

To look at my profile I'd guess you wouldn't predict I would like this movie, but in fact I sought for it after seeing Princess Mononoke & Howl's Moving Castle because I wanted more. I guess that's a recommendation! I am an anime beginner, the only others I have seen, and also liked, were Animatrix & Ghost In The Shell: Innocence. I like both the images as graphic art or whatever, and the sci-fi-aspects, as an old comics & sci-fi fan. I have read fantasy as well since youth, I think that's why I liked the Miyazake ones. In Spirited Away I wondered about identifying with a lead character who was both female & juvenile, neither of which I am, then I recalled I had already done the same with Princess Mononoke & Howl's Moving Castle, I guess youthful feelings are universal regardless of race or gender?

P.S. I thought the English overdubs for all of the animes I have seen could have been better, they seemed too smooth & polished or something, not grittily emotional enough.

I quite like anime voice acting, it's... unique, heh.
