the scene where the trees are being blown up to the strains of Albinoni's classic Adagio - has got to be the most brilliant metaphor for decadence that i have ever seen. The movie is flawed on many levels but some of the elements are truly brilliant

and of course i am referring to the original!!!

Yes, but the decadence is of the masses. Notice the screaming crowds, chanting for teams and the ritual of an anthem song. The masses are kept in check by the "bosses" by giving them their drug of choice: violence.

Now compare that to the firm, steady corporate heads.
