I guess that she is just a ghost haunting and killing people. She feels all humanity is like her mother, who killed her. Also the only way you can survive is by showing the tape to somebody else. Thats they way everyone can see her story. I thought the movie was terrifying and i acctually took a picture of my face to make sure it wasnt blurry....yes im a bitch. but if i was in that situation and saw samara crawling out the well to kill me, id crawl into the tv and open up a case of whoop-ass on her punkass.

I watched both vers'ons of the f'lm and actually the hollywood version is scarier than the japanese one. The original version has too much inconsistancy and the plot is confused really. however creative
>>By ozlem
ozlem i am scared to watch the japanese version alone can we watch it together (if i do not spend the new year with you know who :P)
>>By papatya
why must you write in german????
after seeing the movie a few times, getting shit scared a few times, and having it explained to me by 3 different ppl with 3 diff ideas on wat everything ment, i think i finally understood how it went. Samara was the child who wasnt supposed to be there, she had wat some ppl might say as 'bad karma'. Her mother wasnt supposed to have a child, as her dad ses in the film, but she had one, going against her dentiny, or her life plan. samara was a neglected child, as her dad loved the horses, and somehow she ruined evrything for evryone on the island. they (being people in general, not the movie) say that evryone has an inner power, and that humans only use 10% of their ability, but samara managed to tap into much more of hers as she was left alone all those days & nights in the barn, kept awake by the horses, giving her the power to create the tape, and having the picutures in her mind just 'become'', because she says she doesnt make them, they just are. the tape was from the hospital. thats is how it got into tape form, because we see when the guy goes to get it, it was already gone, and he (the guy he was pretending to be) was the last one to have used it. that is how samaras story came into tape form, because while she was in hospital, evryhting they taped about her, she unwillingly with her subcontious power, converted it into the images that she had seen, the ones that are haunting her, like the ladder and the tree, and that tape stays connected with her, her mind becomes the tape, or the tape become her mind, and the things that really haunt her are placed on the tape. the tape is all about her wanting to be heard. no one understands her, no one cares about her, adn she ruins evrything. but all she wants is to be heard. in order to survive after watching the tape is to make the copy, keeping her story alive, allowing her death wish to live on. if you do not make the copy, she kills you and puts you through the torture that she felt, but all with one dramatic hit. the only bit i really dont get is why she is using aiden, when he hasnt even seen the tape. the link will hav sumthing to do with him and his cousin being so close, but i havnt worked it out yet. ne ideas? (i hav left out bits, and alot of this dusnt make sence but it is 2 in the morning and i hav school in 7 hours so im kinda tired!)

I liked to hollywood version, but where can i get the japanese version?I got the movie the first time I watched it, I didn't think it was to difficult to understand (but then I ended up explaining it to 4 people who watched it with me.) Do most people think it is hard to under stand?
>>By BloodRayne
Okay, I just saw The Ring for the first time last night and I thought it was WAY freaky!! However, I'm shocked at how many people don't seem to get it.
First of all: Samara is not a normal little girl...obviously she's freaky weird and stuff, but it's more than that...she wasn't conceived normally...naturally...however you want to say it. The Morgan's couldn't have children. They went away somewhere and made a deal with the devil or somethin', 'cuz Anna "went against nature" and had a child anyway. But, as Richard Morgan said, he doesn't have a daughter...Samara isn't his. In an earlier posting someone asked why Samara's played by a little boy at the end...she's not, we're seeing her for the demon she really is.
As for the make a copy of the tape and pass it along...this whole movie is a take on urban legends...the MOST COMMON of which is the chain letter. C'mon, you've all seen 'em!! "Make a copy of this letter and pass it on within 7 days or something bad will happen to you." This is the video version of a chain letter...unfortunately for the people in this movie, Samara doesn't give such explicit instructions as to what you're supposed to do.

Lately i'm in to scary movies. The Ring is awsome.... i watched it alone at home at night, and during the film someone called me three times. When i answered the phone, i was terrified because it was my....grandmother. The only scary thing in the movie is when Samara get's out of TV. Other things are just to make you more intense. I wonder why all the scary figurs have their hair on their face and their eyes painted in black. And when these figures look at you you can see the black eyes through the dirty wet long hair... Uhhhhh. As a conclusion i would deffinitly suggest watching it!

the ring is a pretty scary movie.....
>>By Lily_gurl
don't buy the japanese version...it's really stupid.
>>By Isobel
I think that was one of the scarriest movies I've evr seen and I've been watching horro movies since i was 3 years old! my first... A Nightmare on Elm Street. I think my fav part of the ring has got to be when you actully see Samara coming out of the tv to kill Noah. I thought that was just plain freaky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>By lilred
When I saw this film in the cinema, I just laughed all the way through it. Everyone else was gasping and squealing, but I was just laughing my head off. It was so funny! I just seem to find 'scary' things funny. T'was a good film. :o)
>>By Murdering Miss
smara is a revenging girl... i seem to like that in movies... anyway good, orignal plotlines and is fairly freaky, though not so scary as to keep me up at night. i had... the It movie to do that for me when i was younger. that scared me more... but it doesnt scare me at all any more...

does anyone know where i could find the original?

>>By blanka
The special effects of the remake were great. I think it gave me a good fright the first time around because I hadn't seen any previews and didn't know what to expect. Those dead bodies, Arrrgh!!
>>By Repulsia
Someone I know went to see it with friends... and after the movie, she went into the bathroom and called her friend's cell phone and said "7 dayssssssss" It was funny.

i love the japanese 1 its way better dan the american version. but parts of the american version r kool. they av changed quite a bit tho. in the american 1 some of the second japanese film comes into it. n rachel says in the american 1 dat 'the ring' is what u c before you die but the ring is to do with copying the tape so it goes round in a circle. japanese version definitely rules. its scarier when she comes out of the tv cuz she looks normal on that 1 n looks kinda silly n blue on the newer one.
they both rule tho.
>>By SallyRagDoll
not quite as good as the books but they did an amazing job at recreating these masterpieces in Hollywood. They have my salute.
>>By happiness...man
im into my horror movies big time but the ring failed to even make me flinch (actually scratch that, i didn't like the millipede on the tape but thats coz i hate insects!). it's an excellent idea for a movie and the scene where she comes out of the tv was well done but honestly didn't scare me at all! maybe i need to see the japanese version, is that scarier?
>>By Too Smart for a nickname
the ring is cool but its also really freaky i just cant find words to describe horror movies but then agen i hav only really ever seen 2 cos i dont usually watch horror movies i prefer the same as i do with books fantasy, comedy, or not disgusting sci-fi which is quite sad really that ionly really watch certain types of movie n' read certain types of books but there u have most of the films /books i watch/read r fantasy comedy scifi, i watched it just after jeepers creepers so u can tell which 1 i prefferd i cant spell, jeeopers creepers is just plain weird!

There is no actual "Ring" in the film "The Ring", is there? In fact, the main factor, of the film "The Ring", is actually a "Film" rather than a "Ring". So why in "The Ring" does a "Ring" not actually have any role in the film, but rather the "Film" is the central element in the film "The Ring"? So really, the film, should not be called "The Ring", but rather "The Film". For if a "Ring" has no real part to play in "The Ring" when a "Film" is actually the root of all the problems in "The Ring" and not a "Ring" as such, then "The Film" is a more suitable title for this film, rather then "The Ring" which includes no "Ring". Wow! What a film that would be: "The Film" - a film, which would in fact focus on a "Film" rather than being called "The Ring" when there is no actual "Ring" in the film is there?..... Yes, I am bored =)
>>By mathu
Ring, is a telephone's ring, cause after you watch the tape there's a telephone ring! That's y the film is called that way.
>>By Lincoln
no...the film is called that way not because of the phone ring, but, cause,"before you die you see the ring"! you know....before you die you see all these images, and the last one is a ring!
>>By Eli_Molko
No, cause in every other language, the movies name means PHONE RING. check this by yourself. that's my promise.
>>By Lincoln
well,i don't know about that!i mean,in bulgarian the film is translated as:"predestined death"... otherwise,i don't know if you have watched the trailer,or,i don't know what exactly is called that in english, but,on the publicities for the movie someone says:"before you die you see the ring"! and as i think about it,there is a point. the ring in the case,is the cover of the draw-well....hope you know what i am talking about, cause it's hard to explain.the little girl that fell in the draw, was still alive when she fell, and the last thing she saw was the light at the bottom part of the well.it has the shape of a circle, that in that case equals ring...hope someone understood what i was talking about...
>>By Eli_Molko
sorry i am posting again, but,if someone didn't get what i wanted to say,go here: http://www.ring-themovie.com/ and,the first thing you'll see is "the ring"!!!so,there is actually a ring!!!
