My favorite movie of all times. Great story, great plot and great characters. Bogart and Sidney and Lorrie plus the great Mary Astor made a movie that I can still watch since the early 1940's. John Huston had remade a bad version from the 1930s and created a masterpiece. The "kid' flunky for the "Fat Man" still gives me goose bumps. I still watch it at least once or twice a year. It brings me back to when I was a kid myself.

The black bird, which is the basis of the plot never really made a difference with the story line. Mary Astor , bridget O'Shannacy, etc. was a perfect foil for Sam Spade who did have a thing about her , but cared more for his version of justice at the end of the movie. A perfect ending for a movie that had no wher else to go.
