I love the sountrack. Manson and Rammstein aren't usually my thing but it's perfect with this film. I also like the song to the siren by this mortal coil. I first heard it on a commercial for a perfume called NOA, which I later bought,, perhaps because of the song? anyways heres the lyrics because they are beautiful. On the floating, shipless oceans I did all my best to smile til your singing eyes and fingers drew me loving into your eyes. And you sang "Sail to me, sail to me; Let me enfold you." Here I am, here I am waiting to hold you. Did I dream you dreamed about me? Were you here when I was full sail? Now my foolish boat is leaning, broken lovelorn on your rocks. For you sang, "Touch me not, touch me not, come back tomorrow." Oh my heart, oh my heart shies from the sorrow. I'm as puzzled as a newborn child. I'm as riddled as the tide. Should I stand amid the breakers? Or shall I lie with death my bride? Hear me sing: "Swim to me, swim to me, let me enfold you." "Here I am. Here I am, waiting to hold you."

BTW, Elizabeth Fraser who does the vocals in Song to the Siren, does lead vocals for the Cocteau Twins, heaps more there in similar vein.

David Lynch is by far one of the best directors out there. He is not of the normal wave length.Which is what makes him so unique and special. He makes his movies not caring what others think. He has a vision and puts it out there as best as he can.Lost Highway was confusing, demented yet beautiful that is what makes it such a great film. Its raw, aggresive and seductive. It makes us think.

it s a perfect film by david lynch...

i loved it. not that i got it all, but i think i have to watch it one more time. i think what was happening there was a vicious circle, you know, cause it started with one thing, and it ended with the same thing. i mean, it is a vicious circle! so, "lost highway" was the perfect name for the hotel and the movie! i looooooove the soundtrack! Trent Reznor did a good job! and the song by Bowie-the one at the beginning and the end, what was it called..."i'm deranged"(?!)-that song is amazing!

Zanisan, the thing about David Lynch films is that you have to kind of interpret them. I was baffled by this film when I saw it, but I thought about it for a while and I got the same kind of idea as Eli Molko - it could have been that the main character was insane and there was nothing supernatural about it, it just seemed that way to him.
If you can decipher Lynch's films, or rather form a theory on them, they're very satisfying.
Eli: I'm Deranged is off the concept album 'Outside'. I highly recommend it. :)

there's nothing to "get" about Lynch's movies: all you have to do is watch them.

that's true.. no point in trying to make sense of them... don't think they are supposed to.... there's a more artistic value here.

I guess so, but I do think there really are stories in his films too, that can be 'got'. With the dvd of Mullholland Drive there was a bit of card with about ten clues written by Lynch to help you work out what the film was about. But his films are always beautiful just to watch as well.

Ref above, just in case anyone who cares Googles this page, I later found out that "Song To The Siren" from the soundtrack was originally done by Tim Buckley, & I'm old enuff that I should have known that then, sorry!
