Jesus Of Nazareth

Forum

Ello there. I watched the movie, Jesus of Nazareth, the other day and it wasn't the first time I've seen it. I've been watching this movie ever since I was a little girl. I've probably watched it once every two years because of it's movement for my spiritual side which is difficult for me to obtain. I watched it currently and it truly and deeply helps me to believe that there really is a G-d, along with the lamb of G-d, Jesus. It's a wonderful feeling, and for once I'm grateful for every minute of life I breath. Hope, Faith and Love, are, I know now, the main principles to living in worshiping the creator. It's like I've found a peace. Speaking of the movie, I strongly believe that no one else ever will be able to act as the role of Christ Jesus as strikingly moving as Robert Powell. I loved Peter and Mary Magdallin. The movie is beautiful, lifting, moving, inspiring, touching, and compelling to my heart, and I believe not another can match it. I hope, that this movie has reached me as well the same for others in this world.

This movie has changed my life. I used to live in Boston and at the time I was doing a lot of drugs, thinking about suicide and I was always depressed. One night, I was smoking pot and watching this movie. In the scene where Jesus tells the story of the prodigal son, how this boy spent all his wealth with whores and drinking, got broke and began taking care of pigs to the point where he felt like eating their husks... It really touched me. I identified myself with that boy. There I was, in a distant land ( I'm Brazilian ), broke, without real friends, filling my body with drugs. I started crying and immediately gave my life to Jesus, and he had his arms opened to me. Since then I've quit drugs and I'm a newborn person, thanks to Jesus of Nazareth. To Him, all the glory! That's how much this movie means to me!

I have a similar story to tell about the Jesus of Nazareth...I was a very young fellow, maybe 5, the first time I viewed this movie. It has to be one of the best films I've ever watched. It follows closely along the Biblical accounts unlike some of the sensationalized films I've seen in the past. It's also done without special effects! Robert Powell gives the kind of passion that I could imagine Jesus showed when He was here in physical form. I just love it....I'm watching it right now!

I also have watched this movie since I was young. Every year around Easter time, I rent it. It is such a powerful movie. I watched it this past Palm Sunday. And I have to say, it's the first time that I watched the Crucifixion scene. Up until now, I just fast forwarded it. Just couldn't handle how he was treated. Well, I watched it and cried like a baby. How much Jesus suffered for us. It really was moving.

There will be no other movie that has or ever will affect me so greatly. I'm glad that others are so appreciative of this fillm.

Peace,
Eva

Christoper Plummer plays Herod Antipas and Rod Steiger plays Pilate. What other all-stars have I overlooked?

There's no doubt in my mind that this movie touches others very deeply (including myself)...not so much the acting, however this is incredible, rather the life-death-resurrection of our Savior being viewed cinematically opposed to being just read. I recall my mother and I viewing the crucifixion scene and we were completely moved to tears by this powerful moment. Robert Powell portrayed Jesus better then any I seen!

Hi there.

I can't believe I'm far from being the only one to be touched by this movie the way I am. I grew up with this film, but since the age of 10 or so, I kinda forgot about its existance - and most of all, its power. Or as the Chinese would say, "its Powell". Just recently (Easter, I think), I remembered about it and tracked it down via Internet. And behold, seek and ye shall find, I ordered it. Unfortunately it's a 4 hour version and I intend to find the uncut one (which isn't easy to find in a European DVD format). Anyway, though I've always been a complete Christian, I kinda rediscovered my faith while watching this movie now at the age of 23 (all the scenes and lines just came back to me as if there hadn't even been a 13-year time gap since the last time I had viewed this masterpiece. When the Soldiers found nothing but the shroud in the tomb (the scientific facts about this cloth should really put an end to all the discussions about whether or not our Saviour has resurrected), I paused the film and broke down in tears and couldn't stop. I was almost yelling at Jesus, "How could you do something like that for us, man? We're just not worth it!" Then I felt this unexplainable warmth around me, this divine love. I felt like I was in day one of my Christianity. Born again, as Jesus puts it for Nicodemus. I doubt we'll ever be able to really grasp how much Jesus loves us, and I think this movie should be obligatory to everybody, as opposed to reading the Gospel black on white. Everybody knows Jesus was crucified, yeah, yeah, but they just have to really get it all over like I did. They have to get what this whole "Jesus loves you" thing is all about. Sometimes you don't see the forest because of all the trees. Anyway, I hope this movie remains as timeless to the world as it does to me. It's the perfect Bible study and finally gives faces to all these characters with wierd names we read about in the Holy Scriptures. Bob Powell is how I just like to imagine Jesus looks. I hope the Lord doesn't get jealous. There's no doubt, He was inside Powell when the actor portrayed Him. You can see Him shining through especially in the scene of the sermon on the Mount - as if Powell were just a medium of some kind. Don't miss this movie (though I guess most of you are reading this 'cause they've experienced something similar to what I have witnessed). God bless you all. Keep up your movie taste.

This is the best Jesus film ever adapted on screen. And Robert Powell justified his role as Jesus very well. Who can
deny the greatest story ever told on earth? Or the man behind
the movie that had changed so many people's lives? Or would someone ever wonder that this movie was indeed a true story of the Messiah? I broke down in tears when I saw one scene showing a Jew weeping and shouted; "When will the Messiah come? When will our sufferings end?" as 12 year old Jesus looking on. The Jews didnt know that their long wait is over.
Their liberation is drawing nigh..from sin. Anyone will agree that this is the greatest film of all time!
