The amazing DARK STAR! This has been one of my favorite science fiction movies for many years. Lots of people appreciate the outlandish humor, which is great, but there's so much under the surface. If 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most accurate technical portrayal of space travel in the sci-fi cinema, then Dark Star is the most accurate psychological portrayal. The haplessly bizarre crew members of the Dark Star are some of the most touchingly human characters in moviedom, and their very real, very human problems are far more interesting than the improbable action and over-the-top explosions in most Hollywood trash out there.
