i loved the film... the only criticism can make is that... why on earth did the guy go along with death and marrying the corspe after she tricked him practically and his real love was still waiting for him and in danger... i think if that would have happened to me i might have needed time to think about it at least lol... but nothings perfect it still ruled...

"Why on earth did the guy go along with death and marrying the corspe after she tricked him practically and his real love was still waiting for him and in danger"...

> Because, in my opinion, Victor felt sorry for the corpse bride. She had had a dream, but that evil old man had destroyed it by killing her. Victor also felt that he had really promised himself for her, because he made his oath. So Victor thought that if he can't go back to Victoria, he might as well marry Emily (the corpse). That's how I see it.

Anyway, I really liked the movie. It was beautifully made, the scenario was just awesome. Tim Burton is a genius. I admit, I still like more The Nightmare Before Christmas because of the awesome characters (Jack Skellington, Sally, that guy with an axe in his head...), but The Corpse Bride certainly earns its place in my 'favourite movies list'.

it was great no doubt about it but thats the only part that didnt click properly... i understand what your saying but he didnt make the oath directly it was just coincidence that emily was there while he was practicing and he didnt know her so to marry her because he felt sorry for her was weird really.. but still it doesnt make it any less of a brilliant film i still loved it... not as good as nightmare before xmas though nothing compares to that.

Fantastic film, certainly not as good as Nightmare Before Christmas but that's alot to ask : p

I think the explanation for that little snag is just his character: he's so timid and polite, he just didn't want to contradict anyone.

ye i appreciate that.... its just i dont know... even if he was timid and polite theres a limit where youd have to put your foot down right.... now surly the fact that he loved victoria and was planning to marry her and a corpse accidentally took his place and he decided he would drink the potion that would kill him off so he could remain married to emily and stay in the death world is well past the line... even the most timid person would have to do something about that instead of going along with it to make things easier so to speak.
thats all i was saying really anyway... just it seemed abit odd that he would just go along with it but having said that it would have been a really long film if tim burton had have shown the entire process of victors thoughts and actions to come to the conclusion he did... so the way he did it was far better than dragging it out more than necessary.

well i didn't really get the feeling that he made any decisions, everything just happened to him really quickly. but this is a very odd discussion to be having, as we're all in agreement it's a good film.

it was so good...but nightmare before christmas was still 10000000000000000000000000x better

I think it was pretty much Nightmare, just missing the excitement and zazz. Most of the characters were tainted, which tainted the whole film and dragged it on. The highlight of the film was the bride herself, she was more lively than the rest (even for being dead). I mostly admire the film for the history of the general plot, which I somewhat looked into - brides being killed before their wedding day to discontinue religion or family lines, it made it more interesting.
