Discussion: Citizen Kane

what was the declaration of principals

>>By mez

Last night I watched CK for the second or third time. I was struck by how this movie is a reflection of the vast number of "collectors" in this world. Many people who surround themselves with collections just as Kane surrounded himself with collections. We build walls around ourselves just as Kane did. When was the last time you talked to your neighbor? Our lives start out with great goals but all to often we fail to grasp the coveted golden ring. When we look back at our lives as we near the end of the road of life it is memories of our childhood that often offer comfort. Citizen Kane will make you think about your own life. It is not a movie that will dazzle you with special effects but it will stick in your mind if you pay attention to the message in the film.

Orson Welles was truly a genius. Citizen Kane is undoubtedly one of the or possibly the best film ever made.

The dinner table sequence which sums up his marriage - Perfection!!!!

i love the feel of this movie, the whole jazzy black n white thing happening, i think this movie is about excess, materialism, accumulation of people and things to make up something that has been lost. Rooms with no ceilings, and fire places as big as a tree, money lots of money and pain. Wow this film made my stomache sick.
