I found the song "End of my Journey" written and performed by Harry Stewart on Kazaa. He played the part of "sweetbread" Crane in the Movie. I am looking for the sheet music.

Can anybody tell me the marching song they did?

>>By mexib   (Monday, 20 Jan 2003 23:44)

their marching cadence was the song "chain gang." The original sounds much different, but the same words. The actors did a much better job.

I have had the song "End of My Journey" stuck in my head since I first heard it about 13 years ago. Pretty remarkable considering I only saw the movie Cadence twice. It is good to finally learn the title of the song and Harry Stewart's name. I hope I can find it now.

And u say u've been searchin.......Man I had my troubles in finding out in what movie I heard the song!!
And finding a song on the internet that I didn't know the title of was not all that easy even though I thought that the title must be something like "End of my Journey"

"My story short": I remember I started singing the refrain after i saw the movie and then I all forgot about both the song and especially the movie......then all of a sudden sitting with my guitar I started to play the refrain almost by mistake trying to play some other song!
Then my search started.....guess it has to have been at least 5 years ago!
And all I could do was playing the refrain and "try to" sing a bit......

Thnx....Now I'm one happy Swede....Thnx

Btw. "my version" of the refrain wasn't exactly 100% of the original but kind of good anyhow!!

>>By burtt   (Friday, 28 Mar 2003 01:00)

I am so happy I found this site!!! I have been playing the song "End of My Journey" on the piano (learned it by ear) and singing it for years. It is by far the song that sticks in my head more than any other. I have never found a recording or sheet music anywhere. I just found it on Kaaza though and am downloading it now. I am sooooooooooooo thrilled!!!!! THANK YOU! That movie is awesome and the music in it is wonderful.

Like you all, I like the sound and cadence of the song. I search it out. It is Chain Gang by Sam Cooke. I am trying to find out the name of the movie that Sheen play in it. I found this site after a long search. On skepticfiles.org there is no listing for Martin Sheen in Cadence the movie. Am I in the wrong? Hope that my search is over. Now I need to find the movie and cd with the sound track. Let me know if you know where I can buy them! Thanks!

Ok, still nobody is able to provide info about the "Cadence" version of Chain Gang. We know it was sung by Sam Cooke, but the movie version was about a million times better...
"Ooooo - Ahhhhhh" . Anybody know where we can get this song, or a copy of it? Not the Sam Cooke version...

Anyone who can play this song or had the music please email me at: XUAJOCK@aol.com

End of My Journey
By Harry Stewart

Verse 1
Lord You know that I’ve been bad
So there’s no use in lying to myself
Heavenly Father please forgive me
I really don’t want to disown myself

Chorus
Oh when I come
To the end of my journey
Weary of life, the battle is won
Carry myself, the cross of redemption
We’ll understand it, better by and by

Verse 2
Lord sometimes I feel like Samson
You know the world has so many Delilahs
Almighty God give me just a little more time
To right all the wrong that I have done

Chorus
Oh when I come
To the end of my journey
Weary of life, the battle is won
Carry myself, the cross of redemption
We’ll understand it, better by and by
We’ll understand it, better by and by

Repeat chorus

I really really want to find some sheet music to Harry Stewart's End of My Journey. I know someone who started playing the piano because of that song and he would die if I could get him the sheet music to that. If anyone knows where I can get it, please email me.

I have been researching as much as possible about the song "End of My Journey" by Harry Stewart. I came across this discussion group in that search. I find that some of the lyrics have been interpreted differently by several people. Which is to be understood because of the lack of a soundtrack being released for the movie "Cadence." So...I have put all of these details together at a free website:

http://www.freehomepages.com/cadence/

Please visit if you want a copy of the lyrics, MP3s of the song itself, or other info (as I get it). I am hoping to get a lead sheet (chords) posted and if I can get it note for note...the sheet music and possibly a midi file. I will post everything I get! This is an amazing song.

L

PS. The bio link listed is WRONG...wrong Harry Stewart. The one that was in Cadence is not the person on that bio.
