The Butterfly Effect

Forum

k i just saw this movie last night (lil late i know) i didn't want to see it, for the obvious reasons..thought Ashton Kutcher was only a pretty boy who could tell a good joke, not a serious actor..damn i was wrong
(wouldn't be the first time) This movie was both something different for a change and something i've seen b4 (donnie darko) it has a 'if he did that, this would happen kinda thing" theme....i loved it...made me jump like 5..6 times..and it is creepy as hell until u get to the end and everything is sort of explained..but even then u still leave the theater with ur own theory..wow
if u haven't seen go see it, and if u have please comment

i just watched it for the first time tonight kozmo.
i agree about the Donnie Darko similarity. but it was a good film in its own right and yeah , there was a couple of shockingly violent scenes in there.
overall i found it an enjoyable film.and quite thought provoking. obviously , due to the extreme events in the film, it was exaggerated somewhat. but it does show how your actions & decisions you make throughout your life can affect yours and other peoples destiny.
yeah, definately worth seeing!

Mark whats ur opinion on the end? did he know the little girl from the beginning ?? everyone has their own opinion about the ending..
i think the ending wraps up a true love story (he forgot her or pushed her away to save her life later) it was self-less,,,what do u think?

Kozmo..im apologizing in advance if any of the following comes across as condescending. its just that im not sure what you meant by the question...."did he know the little girl"? the little girl was his ..well ..potential future partner.
yeah he deliberately pushed her away, so she wouldn't choose to stay with her father, rather than her mom. she had "earlier " explained that she and her brother had been given the choice of who they wanted to live with when their parents seperated. she had only chosen her dad because she would be able to stay in the area, so she could continue to see him (kutcher)
and her brother chose his dad only because he wanted to stay with his sister.
so he found the perfect outcome for everybody, including himself.
but yeah it meant sacrificing the love of his life.
the ending? they both recognized eachother, also a bit Donnie Darko, they knew eachother in a tangent universe?

I've just watched it,and i think this movie is just amazing! I like the way they have shown how little things can affect your life, and can change your whole destiny...
and the love story- i find it very powerful.it was sooo sad, when he was handicapped, and he told her that it may sound stupid, but that he's probably the boy that has loved her the most...he was even ready to stay that way, but, that was before he saw his mum, with lungs cancer.
the ending was sad...giving up the love of his life.
when they recognised each other,i started crying...:)

yeah i didn't really understand why people wanted to see Dude... cuz i gotta say that ws the dumbest movies ever but i did like him in butterfly effect. I wasn't exactly sure what was happening at first but then one i really started watching i understood... It made me think of MEMENTO the way it kept having so many twists, only i didnt like that movie at all!

i was like everyone else i thought ashton kutcher couldn't pull off this movie, there were parts in the beginning when i just kept thinkin of kelso in that 70's show! But after a while i completely forgot i got so engrossed in the movie and thought kutcher was amazing in it. it's been such a long time since i seen a movie that really made me think, Donnie Darko being the other one! (i think most people will agree!!!) . It made me cry in the end and that never happens with me so overall yea i think it was a brilliant movie.

this movie was really cool, and like every1 ses, has the donnie darko theme to it, but apparently there are multiple endings to it, and i wanna c them!! im not sure the one i saw (where he choked himself in the womb so he was never born alive) was one that i liked much!! there is apparently a nicer one that goes back to a birthday party or sumthin, and it sounds more appealing!

it was a lot better then i expected. I had read in a film magazine that it was crap but i really liked it.

I can easily say that this movie [and Donnie Darko] are my two favorites. It never gets tiring, I've seen it about ten times already and I still enjoy it just as much as I did the first time.
I would like some recommendations that are similar to Donnie Darko and TBE, if anyone has any. I'm going to watch Memento as soon as I have the free time, but I was curious if anyone knows of any other movies along the same lines
