Discussion: Black Orpheus

I have always loved Brazil's version of the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The direction is choppy. But the setting (during Carnaval), the costumes, and the samba music make it worthwhile.

This is one of the greatest movies of all time, probably the best soundtrack. And, if you knew Rio de Janeiro in the 50s and 60s, and know it today, it will incapacitate you with nostalgia, or saudades as the Brazilians say. There is a remake of sorts, "Orfeu de Carnaval" and they needen have bothered.
